We arrived in Chicago 3 hours late, making our total first long distance Amtrak journey approximately 20 hours long. Overall not a bad experience with huge chairs which were comfortable but unsurprisingly not the best nights sleep. There were amazing views travelling through the countryside and mountainous regions of northeast USA.

I also met some interesting people on the train. There was Adam, ex-naval man with some clearly dark stories that he would ...

Max and Sarah arrived shortly after; they had chatted to the doorman on their way through and had been told that Maintenance would not remove the futon - we would have to organise for it to be taken ourselves. We had a dilemma: it was too heavy and cumbersome for us to carry anywhere, it was too big to leave in the small 'refuse room' and finding someone to come and take it ...

We were pleased that we had a quiet day planned, with minimal walking, so spent the best part of the morning catching up with minor travellers' chores such as laundry, suitcase organisation and blogging in the apartment. At 11:30am we sought out our ...

        Day 1

As we do on our first day at every city we went into the city with a map and just started to explore and tick things off. My first impressions of the windy city were amazing beautiful architecture against the backdrop of Lake Michigan and it was very clean. Maybe because we just come from Mexico but it ...
