Not so nice
I stayed at the Wingate after reading several reviews and was very dissapointed, actually disgusted.
I checked into the room on Saturday night and the hotel staff was very friendly. However, when I got to the room and pulled back the comforter there were several small black and curly hairs in the bed, not sure what it was, but I don't think I want to know.
When I spoke with the manager he didn't really say anything or apologize, but when I asked for an upgrade he didn't deny it. So, we moved to a "suite" that was extremely old and worn out. There were marks all over the walls and dead bugs on the toilet and bathtub. The towels that were brought to the room the next day were torn and the edges still had dirt on them.
Overall, not a clean hotel and not a good experience.
Muy bonito, habitación limpia y profesional, personal atento. La máquina de capuchinos es también muy buena.
Very nice, clean room and professional, attentive staff. The cappucino machine is very nice as well.
I read reviews on this site when I made the decision to stay at this hotel. I must say that I was a little weary of the parking situation after reading the reviews, but I tried it anyway. I was very pleased. The room was great. We got an upgrade for free. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was incredible. As for the parking security I was pleasantly surprised by the video cameras installed and signs posted throughout the parking lot about security monitoring. I would definitely return.
Quality, value, location
Really a nice spot. Rooms are among the best appointed for convenience and functionality that I have stayed in recently. No pretense here. They deliver courteous service, clean, quiet accommodations. Beds were great. Internet fast, free and convenient. Breakfast was quite good with range of Belgian waffles, custom omlets, plus full range of cereals, whole fresh fruit, yogurt and juice. Espresso machine was in and out of service and made mediocre java as might be expected. In room fridge and microwave nice addition with nearby shopping (Krogers, etc.). Hotel shuttle puts many amenities in reach even without a car. Lots of restaurants nearby (walking) of good to excellent quality plus variety and not overpriced as downtown majors near CNN, etc. Would stay here again definitely if in Atlanta.
Superb staff and accomondations
I have just returned from my trip to Buckhead. I am from New Jersey and I visit Buckhead once a year to attend Altanta Braves Baseball games. My friends and I have been traveling to Atlanta for the past four years now. We have stayed at the Crowne Plaza and this year we decided to switch to the Wingate Inn. I just want to say that this Hotel is fabulous. We were greeted with a shuttle limo awaiting us at the Marta. The staff is very helpful and the hotel is extremely neat. The rooms, bathroom, pool and bar are absolutely spotless! The beds in the rooms are so comfortable and the sheets and comforter makes you not want to get out of bed. The service to the Marta and anywhere you want to go was on the money. The one thing I have to say is that the breakfast in the morning which includes: homemade waffles and special prepared omelletes not including bacon, sausage muffins etc etc.. was a major treat. I have not been to a hotel that offered this marvelous breakfast. The pool area was beautiful especially the chairs, and the tile all around the pool. I can go on and on about this Hotel but I would recommend it to anyone. I will be staying there again and this time I will definitely stay in their suites. THeir upgrades on this hotel will catch your eye. Soon they will be adding a restaurant that I know will be superb. Check this hotel out if you are staying in Buckhead. It is affordable and for what they offer it blows all hotels away. Oh yeah by the way their bar in the lobby is wonderful and they have all top shelf liquors! Just a great time...
Nice hotel for a business stay
I recently spent a very pleasant night at the Wingate Inn in Buckhead/Atlanta and would recommend it to others. My room (two double beds) was quite large compared to others I've recently stayed in, and included a microwave, small fridge, and coffeemaker. The room also had free wireless (or Ethernet) Internet access which was handy for working and checking email. The bathroom had upscale furnishings and the shower had great water pressure -- maybe the best I've ever had at a hotel. I didn't get a chance to try the free breakfast but did sample one of the free cookies put out during the afternoon. My only complaint is that my room faced the street and let in a lot of street noise. Luckily I can sleep through almost anything, so it didn't really bother me, but anyone who is noise-sensitive should request a room facing the back. One really nice thing I should mention is that there was a sign in the room saying that it was a non-smoking room and that anyone smoking in it would have to pay a $200 "cleaning fee." As a non-smoker who gets very irritated when given a smoky-smelling non-smoking room or rental car, I was very glad to see this sign! And sure enough, there was absolutely no track of smoke in the room.
We have just stayed for a two night short break at the Wingate Inn, Atlanta Buckhead, and it was superb. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the rooms spacious, clean and comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast ideal. We used the courtesy chauffered car for all trips within 3 miles which made our trip so much easier. We would certainly stay there again and try other hotels in the same chain.
We just got home from a one night stay. Nice hotel, convenient to everything in the Buckhead area. However, ominous signs in parking lot and waiver of liability at check-in should have given me an idea that something was up. Sure enough, our Tahoe was broken into with a tool that goes in behind the lock and disables the alarm. We lost a lot of HIDDEN items, digital cameras, etc. Three cars were hit last night (09/05/05), and the police officer responding said that this hotel was BAD for this, and that they did not respond to the suggestion to put up a security camera or post a guard. He had been there even the day before working other car break-ins! They just get their waiver of responsibility and then turn a blind eye. I am on a campaign to make them offer better security in their parking lot.
How much would it cost to place even DUMMY cameras in the parking lot with signs warning the thieves? Instead, they simply get their liability waivers and the rampant problem continues. The police officer told us that the authorities suspect that someone in the hotel might be even tipping off or aiding the thieves! This experience turned what would have been an excellent review into what I hope is a terrible one, warning all. Nobody could have seen into our car (tinted windows, etc.), so no car is safe in the parking lot of the Wingate Inn Atlanta Buckhead at 3600 Piedmont Road.
Nice Hotel, Poor Location
This is a nice business hotel, no frills but the services and accomodations that you need for work related travel. Highlights include a nice continental breakfast, empty mini refrigerator and microwave, small but adequate work out room, and two station computer room. The biggest detractor is that the hotel is not near anything. The closest resturant is a greasy diner about a mile off, and if you want to order in you have to use the very expensive "Dining In" option to order from local resturants because there is no room service/resturant. You will need to rent a car if you are staying here, otherwise you will feel trapped without access to any resturants, stores etc.
