... It's rare that my family gets to all get together!
As per usual, I am being pretty neurotic about packing. I have not packed for long-term travels for fall/winter weather. I am planning on taking a large suitcase, a duffle bag, and a backpack. I hate to overpack, but it will be worse to have to scramble to purchase winter clothes in Stockholm!
Anyway, I'm super excited!
... night, Thursday, we camped at the FDR State Park campground, but because of the holiday weekend we could only stay one night and were forced to find different accommodation for today. We are now in a lovely home built in 1895, which has been made into a bed-and-breakfast. But more on that later. We are now going to the Callaway Gardens for a meal and to enjoy the evening's 4th of July festivities and fireworks
Camped on site 39 for 14 days for the first time. Great site, shady, private, good TV antenna reception. Pad was not completely level leaned to left. Gina Jay Bartlett camped at site 40. Grassy site we laid out together here. Bates and Herndons and Reynolds camped also. Enjoyed meeting the Reynolds and Herndons. Went to new Mexican restaurant ...
... for a long time). The “Ichi-go, Ichi-e” or “one encounter, one opportunity” is also significant. As a painter there are moments I see a the light hitting the landscape in a certain way or when an interesting person or animal is spotted, and I wish I could record those instances, but I know that it will never happen exactly that way again, and I simply have to enjoy it while it is there.
Looking back over this trip, I was able to really appreciate the way in which the Japanese live. Every moment is transient, in the same way this trip was. This means that nothing lasts forever, so enjoy the moment you find yourself in. I am still recovering from jet lag, but I know once things are back to normal I will really be able to reflect on this ...
