Arrived in Ayr in the rain. Had dinner at Cicero's - had a large pizza and some chocolate desert. Lucky we do not have lunch on our travels. Ayr is a bit of an in-between town. Historical buildings not as good as others but not modern either. Looks like it needs to determine where it wants to go. It does have really good golf courses including the Royal Troon. B&B was good. So this is it. In a week we will start our great adventure, so we thought we would write a lil goodbye message whilst in Bournemouth.

Obviously we have nothing to write about at the moment because our lives are dull in England. But make sure you keep checking up with us ...
Bournemouth, England, United Kingdom teamjalice... I even saw a picture of the bathing compartments pulled by horses into the water so people could swim without anyone seeing them in their swimmers. I'm presuming it was for the women! I also presume their swimmers were neck to ankle... lol what would they think these days!!

I was going to have lunch on the pier but they weren't selling any food.. ah well you can't have it all your own way!
Bournemouth, England, United Kingdom sares12... is not really a speed demon, but the slower pace suits us fine as we are in no hurry... it also conserves fuel which is important considering the distance we will be covering over the next few months. So we don't really go faster than 50 mile/hr (80km/h for the aussies at home) and we avoid the motorways as there generally is ...
Lyme Regis, England, United Kingdom darrenhough74... 8!! We were quite a large group, about 4 families I think and their kids!

We had dinner at the park. This is no ordinary park.. its huge and the entertainment was great. They have a huge complex in the middle, with an indoor and outdoor pool, kids play area with a climbing wall and trampolines, putt putt golf, amusement room (massive) dinning room and club.. HUGE..

I had a steak but it was a bit rubbery.. lol. Say a lot rubbery ...
Poole, England, United Kingdom sares12... had lunch of crab sanwiches just off the Cobb and a walk along to find to our dismay a couple of mad Pommees actually swimming in the sea!! Unbelievable.

Back through Dorchester to have a look at Prince Charles pet product at Poundberry, a "modern" development that looks like a prison and promises to be a blight on the landscape as a slum in 50 years time. Back home through the fog and out in the evening to be ...
Crewkerne, England, United Kingdom artell... a few hundred quids worth of parts needed, plus the labour to fit them. It's going to need some real, serious blubbing. Bill is luckily off work from next Saturday, so he has 5 full days to iron out some of these issues if First can't. The money is coming in, but it could still be better. John is still collecting some of his body waxing pledges, Ian has over £500 from the quiz to come in, Charli has the proceeds from the band night (a successful do by all accounts ...
Weymouth, United Kingdom spooky388... the claret shirts of Weymouth and the black and white shirts of their local rivals Dorchester. I've now got Weymouth 2004 v Dorchester Bowling Club. I have also been contacted by Berhanu Tessema of the Ethiopian News Agency who must have picked up on the Dorset Echo article. I expect it's a popular read in Addis Ababa. He wanted to know when we were going to be in Addis. I guess they don't get many media celebrities of ...
Weymouth, United Kingdom spooky388Way back in 1973 my wife and I were living in Hull, East Yorkshire, from where we set off in our tiny Datsun Cherry loaded with camping gear to look at 'The Continent'. We went via Dover ferry to Belgium, Luxembourg, France & Germany to Switzerland. We camped beside Lake Thun, at Gwatt and after a few days respite decided to go over the Grimsel and Furka passes into Italy, then France and return via Netherlands. Unfortunately the Grimsel and Furka, even in mid June were both ...
