... try and dress like the local people. It will be warm there. I'm glad for that as here in Arizona in the desert no less we have had a lot of rain today and a lot of snow in the North. It is just hard to beleive the weather here. Every so often a siginal comes on the TV with a notice of the weather.
Mesa, Arizona, United States claranell... there are dams on the Gila that remove ALL the water from the river and divert it into canals so the river bed below is completely dry. Of course, when they did that, all the Mesquite trees died. Died. Their roots run 75' deep and they died.
In the beginning of the 20th century the water table here in the Phoenix/Tuscon area was 15-20' deep; now in some places it's over 700' deep.
But when the Hohokam grew their crops here there was water ...
... any pictures as evidence, though, do you. No no, we were incognito cute.
Here's a tip for anyone coming to Phoenix: get signed up on the Internet for Groupon and get email alerts for special deals in the valley. We saved a bunch of money by getting half price tickets for tonight. It works like this, you have 24 hours to purchase and if they get enough buyers the deals on, if not, you're not charged. So you either buy or ignore with a new deal coming out every day.
... s a great way to get the people who use the place to help pay for it, but it's certainly a cumbersome procedure. We're going to backtrack down the mountain to buy a pass for a parking lot we're in NOW?
I don't think so.
There are no drop boxes here like there are in campgrounds in Montana. Maybe they have more danger of vandalism and theft, I don't know the reason, but the system is screwy.
Saguaro lake is about an hour and a half from us at Sun Lakes, but only ...
... get something, Fred had to go back to Toys R Us to get something, and I volunteered to brave Walmart to get Janine's girls some motorised bikes that were a huge bargain at only $50. By the time Janine and I found the aisle that had the bikes, quite a few people were standing by the pallets which they were stacked on and had claimed 'x' amount for themselves. Janine found a nice young guy and his girlfriend who said that would save us one, and at 4.40am ...
Litchfield Park, Arizona, United States alvrez... was cold all night, even with the furnace in bedroom running. It was 42 this AM! And the high for the day was 59! I had planned to go to my storage shed and start weeding things out and cleaning to see if I can get it from 3 5x15 ft units (connected with walls removed) down to 2 units. I put my desk that I built on Craigs list last night and while there will see what else I can live without! I would like to get it down to one unit but think that may be impossible! So I stayed in ...
Gold Canyon, Arizona, United States teamcc... it cos it looked like a cul de sac entrance. That's the problem here, every damn road looks the same! Street signs are different and roads lazily marked so most the time you ain't got a scooby where you are! We got out the car, both sweating our tits off cos of the no air con. I posed for my picture, waited 5-10 mins and walked out with my Arizona license which is valid in all 50 states and doesn't expire until 2047 :D Now for a car!!!
Chandler, Arizona, United States teasertool... back into water and is pumped out through the drain system. This new machine dries SO completely and thoroughly, that I've had to adjust how I use it, as clothes were drying too fast (20-30 minutes!) and, because of the small drum size, they were coming out with the same wrinkles as the laundry room dryers produced! We can even wash towels (2-3 bath towels and a hand towel or two) in this machine and have them dry completely - something I never did in the old ...
Apache Junction, Arizona, United States pykesonthego... plans to take into consideration two things, first was the fact that we both couldn't ride together unless we figured out how to tow the car with our bikes. The second was that I had driven our intended route the night before while racing to Mike's apartment, and I had discovered a very long stretch of the 303 that was virtually without a shoulder. This meant that a decision to ride this area would be on a par with using a ...
Casa Grande, Arizona, United States kzuber... home around 1 pm and her husband fired up the grill for wonderful steaks. Ted introduced me to the mysteries of American barbeque style including a Weber Grill, getting the coals started in a kettle of sorts (I think it is called a chimney starter) where I was also shown a sort of triangular metal container or bowl (fuel holders) where I believe one may prepare hickory or mesquite wood chips. Wow. An art in itself. The meat was wonderfully "butter" soft. I hardly needed my ...
