... a book on Florida plants and noticed under the entry for African or Butterfly Iris (of which we have two) that after winter one should cut brown foliage to several inches above ground before growth emerges in the spring. As far as I could tell no one had done that. Of course I also started to notice the weeds. Our gardener had suggested I spray them but I am reluctant to do that very often.
