A relaxing, beautiful place to start

Everyone has been extremely accomodating & helpful to us here. Both pools are great, the swim up bar was pretty fun, but the coctails were steep compared to some out of the way spots we found while cruising the streets. The variety at the continental breakfast is super fantastic. We feel extremely safe and comfortable staying here. Not a bad spot to have as a home base while here. The only 2 things to think about are: If you want inexpensive drinks, don't get them at your hotel, head out into the streets and find yourself some deals... the other thing, go online and prebook if you want to get a deal for this hotel, we got a great room on

... who live and work there.

The event itself was exhausting but really fascinating and uplifting to be involved; what an amazing and inspiring group of young women. Easky herself is great and I look forward to working with her when she comes to New Zealand next year. I also met Cori Schumacher (multiple world long board surfing champion and surf activist who has been at the forefront of the Roxy boycott), and a bunch of ...

... was pitch black and we had only torch light to guide us only but it was a very lovely sight to see all these tiny little lights spread up the descent. Like fireflies!! When we'd got to the half way point I felt exhausted but the worst was yet to come. We climbed up further where the rocks were crumbling down so for every 2 steps up you'd fall 1 back down!! Finally we'd got to the top a 4km hike which took 1.5 hours!! We were so high that we were actually ...

... They had musical instruments - cymbals , drums etc, and all walked together down the street toward a temple. It was pretty cool to see how the chaos of the city disappeared in an instant for the ceremony to be performed. The second it was over, the chaos returned!

We spent our last 2 days at the "Bliss Surfer Hotel" in Legian ( a 10 min drive from the last hotel) . This place is really ...

The beautiful Gilli T

There was high expectation for Gilli T, as our Irish beauts Emma and Karen had told us a lot about the place. They recommended a hostel to us, Gili Backpackers. As we arrived on the island it had the Phi Phi vibe, again there were no cars or dogs allowed and the locals used horses and carts to get around. We didn't like the use of horses at all and felt sorry for them having to work all day in the heat. Turning up to Gili Backpackers, this ...

... were just not in flower. There was also a Cactus garden which had many different types of Cactus's. Most of the rest of the Gardens were viewed from the car window which was nice and cool inside the air conditioning. After we left the Gardens we headed to the famous floating Temple. Pura Ulun Danu Bratan is famous for being a water temple in Bali, with the photo of the Temple being an iconic one when people see photos of Bali. Arriving at the Temple it was quite busy with lots ...
