Everyone has been extremely accomodating & helpful to us here. Both pools are great, the swim up bar was pretty fun, but the coctails were steep compared to some out of the way spots we found while cruising the streets. The variety at the continental breakfast is super fantastic. We feel extremely safe and comfortable staying here. Not a bad spot to have as a home base while here. The only 2 things to think about are: If you want inexpensive drinks, don't get them at your hotel, head out into the streets and find yourself some deals... the other thing, go online and prebook if you want to get a deal for this hotel, we got a great room on

We arrived in Bali, finally, after 24 hrs in planes and airports. Dog tired and hungering for real food, we propelled ourselves out of that last airplane like we were in need of life support. The transition was swift - 31 c and as humid as can be, we slowed suddenly to island speed. We cut through the fields of hawkers and drivers with an ...

... many discos/bars, a totally happening scene. Fun to witness, but then I sedately went back to my hotel, wanting no part of it really. Just another reminder that I'm not a youthful backpacker on an adventure anymore, though at other times that is exactly how I feel.

So, while Bali is beautiful, fascinating, it's people warm and friendly, it is not an idyllic tropical paradise where you would go to get away from it all. That is true of ...

... hard to get away from him. It was at this point a lady was walking past and whispered at me that it was a scam which confirmed my suspicions - now to get away. The guy walked away for a moment to get a taxi for me and the was when I made a run for it (funny now that I think about it) into the shopping centre we were standing in front of, not looking back. Once inside I cooled off for a moment and walked through to the other end where the beach was. From where I was you could ...

... though as he watched how about 10,000 Indonesia rupiahs bought a United States dollar and pull our luggage so far that he seemed like he was coming with us. We had seen these shena****ns before by taxi drivers before waiting outside the airport to intercept tourist before we find the metered taxi office that arranges our car for a legitimate fare, but we couldn't sympathize with this guy's lust for money offering only the basics, when at least the crooked ...

... Kawi 2). It was very different from the first, but you would never guess it from the name. We had a fantastic lunch for $2, and we sat and chatted to a local for awhile. After, we headed to Tagallalang to see the rice terraces. Since we had seen all the temples that we wanted to see, we felt like we had some time to explore the roads that looked interesting to us. It was so great "speeding" along the countryside on tiny winding roads surrounded ...
