Everyone has been extremely accomodating & helpful to us here. Both pools are great, the swim up bar was pretty fun, but the coctails were steep compared to some out of the way spots we found while cruising the streets. The variety at the continental breakfast is super fantastic. We feel extremely safe and comfortable staying here. Not a bad spot to have as a home base while here. The only 2 things to think about are: If you want inexpensive drinks, don't get them at your hotel, head out into the streets and find yourself some deals... the other thing, go online and prebook if you want to get a deal for this hotel, we got a great room on

Kuta, Bali - our last stop in Indonesia

I just admit that I was weary about our stay in Kuta. I had many friends warn me about Kuta and that it really is a party destination with not much else to do. Hence the reason we only booked 2 nights here. How wrong was I?! Kuta was a really pretty place with lots of atmosphere, great food, great bars, excellent shopping and friendly people. In fact, the place we stayed at was the nicest so far and the ...

... with candles the lot. Had a late start next day, Phil was helping with the watermarked on Luna Ray so we went in for a late breaky and then went off for long massage & nail painting session. A great way to spend an afternoon. Watched a glorious sunset, in bar you might be surprised dined & headed back to the boat. I think we did some exercise at some stage!
Next day early start and a lovely sail to start with but it died down ...

... a surfing lesson. There's a school every 10-20 meters! The only good thing about the tourist areas is that locals actually speak English pretty well and poverty is a bit lower. Only in the first two rows of streets though. I just spotted a squirrel in the tree above me and will enterntain myself with watching it until the suns heat reduces enough for me to sunbathe for a while :) Life is great! ----------- So 2 hours after writing that I felt bad... I sunbathed, said no to ...

... of the day catching up on all the gossip, eating food and having a few drinks. Kuta is very busy and I seen it as the Australians version of Magaluf. A bit too crazy and not the chilled out paradise holiday we were looking for so only had one night to spend here. The next morning we were off to Gilli Trawangan - somewhere I hadn't heard of before until travelling around Asia! I had been guaranteed that it wouldn't ...

... been too bad except that the waves were large and it was approaching high tide, resulting in a treacherous entry with strong currents. We fought our way out of the mouth of the cavern and, as we were starting to paddle across the water to get around the breaking waves, the current kept pushing us closer and closer to the jagged rocks that form the cliffs in that spot. One wave put both Andy and I within inches of them! If there had happened to be one more wave at that ...
