      Met up with the ladies with ill husbands - one of them had a friend with her- lives in BKK - suggested I go to Jim Thompsons House. He was a silk merchant in the 40's and 50's here ( and they tell - me a CIA agent!) who was an art collector as well as created amazing silk - so may try and check this out tomorrow. According to Henry (the expat we were with) there are as many as 700 canals in Bangkok but only one of them is operated publicly (discounting tourist tours (more on this story later)). The mall had been transformed with loads of stalls selling stuff for Valentine's Day from chocolate to sof toys etc. Something happening on stage but didn't hang around to find out what.
