... we were there. This would have been an event to behold at the best of times, however it was even more raucous due to the fact that days earlier the USA had legalised gay marriage in all states. When we got off the metro onto Powell Street, it was like walking into one of John Lennon’s dreams, with psychedelic colours bouncing around as far as the eye could see. There’s a huge gay population in San Fran and they were certainly out in style, dancing on carnival carts ...

When we exited the Customs Hall we came out into what appeared like a pit where we were starred upon from above by those waiting for family and friends.
All in all it was only a quick stopover of three hours. Time for a drink, some snacks, change money and go to a normal toilet.
Today we did a Hop On, Hop Off bus tour & it certainly allowed us to see all the sides of LA - good & bad.
We boarded near our Hotel which is close to Hollywood Boulevard. This took us through some swish areas like Rodeo Drive & Beverley Hills but the best part was hopping off at Santa Monica & walking along the pier, having lunch then walking to Venice Beach.
