... the creamy bowtie shrimp pasta were my favorites. And lets not forget the unusual desserts for a brunch buffet. No run-of-the-mill fare here. Seriously, you must try the Lodge Sunday Buffet!
Toured and educated, and shopped ourselves till closing, and lingured in the gardens of the Governors Palace after the tour... and after hours. Really expected to get kicked out, but we wandered around and found the hilltop view of the ...
... net a keeper for dinner tonight. And after *****ing about my horrible luck with boat fishing in NC, some ray of light must've hit my rod to pull in a record catch for our family at 20.5 inches. I should officially retire from fishing after today and end on a good note.
We now have 24hrs to wrap it all up and put this whole shabangabang in order - tomorrow we set out, for a year hiatus, no looking back....except to wave goodbye.
We find out this morning that the twins were not delivered last night after all, so Jonathan and I decide to make the trip to the hospital in Newport News to visit Ashley. The miracle was that we walked into the door of the maternity ward just as they were wheeling her to the operating room for her C-Section. We went out for lunch and came back in time to ...

After dinner, Jan opens her cards and gifts. Then we all cram into the living room to watch a brief video I have produced to honor the patriarch of the family, Richard Lewis, who passed away last December. Not a dry eye in the house! We learn that Ashleigh is having a C-Section operation tonight to deliver the twins. We celebrate the full circle of life with this blessed event.
... front row view of Hampton University, Hampton Roads to the left, and Hampton Yacht Club.
Every morning (early) we saw the fishing boats head out, then the Yacht Club would launch their kiddo's in the sabots, and the high school girls would head out in their lasers. Let's say they were in college so that I feel better. ;o)
Hampton University, a Historically Black College, was directly across from us ...
... Main Street circa 1700 A.D. We got the bikes out which was very handy for getting around. Jamestown was the original settlement. Its a museum. The theme is the development of Jamestown from the perspective of three peoples--The English settlers, the Powotan Indians.. remember Pocahantas and the African American slaves. Alot of stuff devoted to explaining the situation for these peoples circa 1600. Learned a great deal about the ...
Williamsburg, Virginia, United States kingsalt... beautiful forests line the river system. It was not what we had imagined at all.
So after leaving Norfolk we had a pleasant but cool sail up to Deltaville, the first of our stops on the way up. We had organised to send some of the boys school work here as we thought we might explore the area and after arriving it was disappointing not to be able to as it was so beautiful and the anchorage so still, barely a ripple on the water.
... School of Manners or RULES for Children's Behaviour:" for obvious reasons and "George Washington's Rules for Civility". He calls the latter a self-help book. We found a Bookbinder, who back then made his money by binding blank books often with leather . "Who would buy a book with words already written in them?" he mused. He went on about his trade and the children were once again spellbound. Our last stop was the Episcopal Church where ...
Williamsburg, Virginia, United States eightydazeWe bought a pass for Colonial Williamsburg which allowed us to go as much as we wanted for the week we were in town so we started off our day in the not-so-crowded living history site. We checked out a few buildings, including the public jail (gaol) and capitol. We ...
Williamsburg, Virginia, United States stephtodd... we got to go in the old jail and had a great photo op - left the memory card for the camera in the computer - no pics. The boys got some civil war battle figurines and have been playing with those a lot. We then rolled into a campsite in Williamsburg that had all the amenities - a nice putt-putt golf, laundry, pool and even a DJ for Saturday night entertainment. The boys thought they were in heaven.
