Arriving into Zakopane, we made a quick stop to hire our gear for skiing tomorrow and then headed out for dinner. ... the main village to explore and for lunch. We departed Zakopane as the sun we starting to set, at 3:30pm, it was just beautiful to watch the sun set over the snowy mountains.

There is a place near Zakopane where you can take a cable car up to a very high mountain, and stand with one foot in Slovakia (?) and the other in Poland. I would like to do that one ...

... morning as I get up for breakfast he trips up on the step. I get up at 8.00am to get the 9.00am cable car to the top of Mount Kasprowy. There are spectacular views of the Tatra mountains. As I get to the top a Polish man has a ring and is on his knee proposing (at the spot where I have my photo taken a few minutes later). They look happy going down the hill, so I guess she said yes! ... Wichry trail with the intention of taking down the Ciemniak peak.

As we hit the snowy alpine stretch of the hike we started to realize that the day was going to be tougher than we initially planned (thank god for the spare dry socks in my day pack!), but man was it worth it. Clear and sunny blue skies, mountain air and scenery reminding us of weekends in BC resulted in a serious adventure.

Zakopane is a definite win!

We left Krakow and headed up onto the mountains. Zakopane is definitely a ski resort area. There was no snow here at this time but I could still go up to the GOP of the mountains and enjoy the beautiful view. We stayed in hotel Daphne.
