We stopped at two visitors centers, one in Rancho Mirage and the other in Palm Springs. The Rancho Mirage folks made us feel like we have ruined their nap time. The lady at the Palm Springs Visitor Center had a bright and bubbly personality. Her extensive knowledge of the area enabled her to select literature specific to our interests.

Today was another cool morning, but thankfully it was a sunny day and we decided to head north east on highway 62 to "Joshua Tree National Park". The drive took us through the city of “Yucca Valley” which was a large community with a lot of new commercial construction. ... away from Redlands. Tomorrow we are planning to head out early and go to Malibu beach before meeting our foster families. Supposedly we are on a large camp with around 90 kids, and 8 adults. After leaving the lecture theatre we all went to have a look at some of the cars which have just arrived and look so nice - there seems like quite a few Mercedes cars and so many other classy cars - it felt like we were back at Epcot.

The Discovery Center provides a great opportunity to learn about and experience the forest!
