... great in the AM the first 1/2 of the ride it's hard to see the views.
2. You'll be tempted to take pictures when you first get off the train during the 1 hour break. Don't. Everyone else has the same idea. Take your break first. Then after 1/2 hour everyone will be taking their break and you can take pictures without crowds of people.
3. If you do take the PM ride at least this time of year the only thing that ...
Bryson City, North Carolina, United States dave-sue-rv... this mountainside with a feeling of tipping off of it. The rock cliffs and wet roads didn't help. I got over the fear and laid out on the bench in front of the window in Lola, just watching the world go by out the window. Fall is one of my favorite seasons and I can lay and watch the colorful fall foliage forever. When something is so beautiful it's hard not to watch.

We passed through a couple interesting towns as we jetted through the space between. Cherokee, NC was a ...
Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, United States ktowers86... we had for a show called "Country Tonite". . It was pretty good, with a cast of 17 people who sang and danced their way through classic and modern country music, gospel and patriotic tunes. A couple of VERY good voices, and some pretty good voices, but an entertaining evening, to be sure!

Looks like the second night in a row that we don't really need a furnace, heater, or electric blanket - this is a GREAT sign of things to come!
Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, United States pykesonthego... so once we got the motorhome in our site and parked - we chose to just stay in and watch lots of good stuff on TV ("good stuff" being defined as the Angels beating the Red Sox to win the Division Title, my favorite driver Jimmie Johnson winning the Nascar Race at California Speedway, and the not-so-good NY Yankees beating the Minnesota Twins).

Tomorrow, rain or shine...we're doing Smoky Mountains National Park!
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, United States pykesonthego... that they have finally developed that area and the riverfront. I had always wanted it like that when I lived there, but I must say that on a Friday Night before a home football game it is not fun to drive around there. We finally land at a Buddy’s BBQ which is fine. At this point my head is killing me and I hardly eat anything other than my fries dipped in the baked beans. We hit the Kroger ...
Knoxville, Tennessee, United States psubrat93Hi, everyone,
Just want to say that the Riverstone Lodge in Townsend, Tn. is by far the very best place to stay in The Smoky Mountains. It is the closest Hotel / Lodge to Cades Cove which is just unbeleivable with its mountain views and all the wildlife (deer, black bear, wild turkeys ect...) also well maintained original cabins & churches from the1800's are spread out across the 11 mile journey. Mountains all around you. AHHH. The ...
Townsend, Tennessee, United States smokeymountainsYesterday was a pretty relaxed day of driving, minus the extreme sticky southern heat. This stuff the horribly disgusting!!!!! We only made a few stops, one was to get our normal beer and glass, we tried to get one at a few places in Nashville but we struck out a lot. So we stopped in Knoxville and we finally got one. After that our mission was complete. We got back on the road and headed to our destination Pigeon Forge, home of ...
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, United States nicandjessicaIt has been many years since I've been in Cherokee and little has changed except for the Casino which is undergoing major expansion. We were nestled into a nice RV park with a brook flowing through it. Cherokee is close to many attractions and we enjoyed our stay there.
Cherokee, North Carolina, United States captrickWe found a spot somewhere on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee. It was so beautiful we spent a few days here and did everything.

We did some white water rafting near our site and met a friend. She was a cat the lived there and loved sleeping in the tent. ha ha ha.... We named her Nantahala, 'Nanta' for short.

It was Beautiful....
Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, United States reena.ram.king... in mind it's being thrown as far as one's strength will allow! It's men only in the search for the bonniest knees, and yes, there is a test of battle-axe skill. Solo drummers and pipe bands fill the air with Scottish sounds, and Highland dancing helps to work up our appetite. We'll stop at the food booths for sausage rolls and meat pies, and search the vendor rows for our Scottish souvenirs. We may buy a tulip goblet or some jewelry from Ted and Sue Sheldon ...
