    Surprisingly Affordable

We decided to treat ourselves to a hotel night for our last night on our trip and stayed at the Wildhorse. We were surprised at how affordable the rooms were and what a great view! We got a room on the top floor with a western view and watched the sun set over the hills. Highly recommend this place for a one-night stay or for longer.

Well, this should be our last night on the road. We're in Pendleton and should make it home tomorrow.

We came through Boise today and stopped for lunch at a nice little brewpub called Sockeye Brewing. Sheryl had a really nice 12-beer taster tray, one of the most comprehensive taster trays we've had on the trip.

Yeah, another Birthday, big whoop. Only good thing about being 61 is next year I will be 62. What? You say why would you want to be 62? At 62 years on this planet, and in the USA, you get a lifetime pass to all National parks for $10.00. Also, you get 50% off all camping fees at NP and National Forest and BLM …

... but I do think they are neutral and lovely! Scott is so wonderful. He is a wonderful cook, too. We used iron skillets that dated back from the 1920's. I am always in awe of how well made and high quality older things are. Today everything is done faster- and faster is not done with care in mind. Faster is done with bulk and money in mind. Take note. Anyhow, we first put potatoes in, then the rest of the vegetables and Scott grilled the chicken directly on the grill. It ...

... what a great meal Too.

After Breakfast Talita called Johnny and we met at the local grocery store and headed for a couple of good areas to pick fresh wild blackberries. We must have picked $20.00 worth of these little gems. Blackberries grow wild in this part of Washington. It's a little early in the season, but there were still a lot to pick. Nick and Talita have a few of these ...

... He got to see some live birds up close and learn a few things. During the presentation a couple camping there heard Dean ask about ospreys. The guy was retired and spends much of his time photographing birds, so they stopped by to see if Dean wanted to see some of the pictures he had taken of ospreys. We sat around and looked at pictures (some of them were amazing), and Dean kept asking him questions about photography. The guy gave ...
