After some online reconnaissance we ventured into the city today for a look around. We drove to a local train station and had no trouble buying day passes from a vending machine for €6 each. Parking was a little drama - the 'park n ride' we drove into closed at 9pm and there was a chance we'd be back later than that. ... spacious and with a great lie-flat seat/bed. A good selection of movies, fine wines and the first travel leg was pretty easy. Needed my coat on all the time, though - the cabin temperature was cool. Five hours' sleep on the longer second leg to Frankfurt, warmer too. All automated and efficient at Frankfurt airport: check-in, baggage drop and seat allocation. Very fast free wi-fi in the airport too. A lovely sunny day ...

Hey everyone,

Tomorrow is the day. My adventure is about to start.
3.30 pm my plane takes off in Hamburg, Germany.

I am so excited. After a week of making arrangements, fighting with insurance companies, packing all my stuff and saying goodbye to everyone I am finally ready for take off.
