... the trail began in ernest.....biking beside the river passing orchards, maze crops, densely forested hillsides, and fisherman sitting on the banks with their three rods per person in the water...catching what? I am not sure! Mostly it was very easy biking some of the trails share with roads but mostly we rode without worry of vehicles coming at us on the wrong side of the road. (Except at the start when we rode out on the main road...going the wrong way as we ...

Passau is a city of 50000 at the confluence of three rivers, the Danube,LLz and Inn.St Stephen's cathedral is one of the most beautiful I have seen. Full of art. There is an organ concert every weekday at 1200. Amazing sound as over 1900 pipes are part of this 2nd largest church organ in the world. There are many Neat shops and restaurants. They are recovering from the devastating floods of 2013 so there is much ...

Passau is a very pretty Bavarian town where the three rivers of the Danube, Inn and Ilz meet. After a huge breakfast we went out for a wander...the old Saint Stevens cathedral (has the biggest ...

... the Inn river. We cross over into Austria and continue along the bike path for a few miles. This has definitely got Bob thinking of another bike trip....as the bike path follows the river quite a long way. Passau is the beginning of many bike tours along the river to Vienna....about 300 km away. Back to Germany ...

On the river Danube

Travelling along this river is magical. The scenery from our river boat is outstanding. Some parts more so than others. To see small towns dotted all along the river with their ancient fortresses, castle ruins and medieval houses is simply breathtaking.

The Danube is Europe's second longest river, after the river Volga. It runs 1,785 miles from the Black Forest ...
