A good friend asked me recently if I was escaping or running away - that had me thinking. Why would I leave my wonderful circle of family and friends, my social scene and photography courses, a perfectly brilliant business like Express Imaging, with its fabulous team of workmates, my lovely house and car, the beautiful Roath Park and City of Cardiff to pack one bag and fly to the other side ...

I have been planning this trip for a long time - working out how to organise the business, look after my house, pay for the trip and make sure the kids are ok to planning where to go, visas required and jabs (ouch...) but I didn't foresee this last bit as being such an emotional turmoil. We were waiting for our boat and then the worst rain storm we had seen hit us (whilst we were waiting outside for our boat). Admittedly we found a small patch of shelter under a metal roof which looked like it would be blown of with one gust of rain, but it was shelter and we were happy with that. Despite us getting out rain covers and PAC a macs out I ...

Chester to Cardiff

... ramparts walk which they said was great too.

After the walk we went to watch the birds of prey display and as we walked up to the viewing platform the bald eagle flew between us, so close I could feel her feathers on my face. It didn't seem to bother her in the slightest. We were then shown a sea eagle which had a wing span of 8 feet and watched her do her display. The funniest thing was Eddie the Owl had ...
