... that we were on a "Piccadilly line train with service to Cockfosters," or the rush of warm wind funnelled up a long escalator shaft; the intersecting, colour-coded lines of the Tube maps and the evocative names of the stops--Oxford Circus, High Street Kensington, Regent's Park, Marble Arch--that are no longer just names on a map but places tied to memories tied to feelings. (I really loved taking the Underground--can you tell?)

Hard to believe but this amazing trip of a lifetime was nearing it's end. We woke very early, our flight home to Edmonton was due to leave Gatwick at 9:40am. After a mix-up with the taxi (they sent one originally that couldn't fit all our luggage) we arrived at Gatwick and made our way straight to check-in.
