Church End Broxted Essex Stansted, Essex, England, United Kingdom
... front of everyone else about something that I had planned on telling him that night anyways. So now, I'm at the Rose of York instead of the Cittie of Yorke. I'm the only live-in as the other girl abruptly quit last night. I have a whole kitchen and a single room. Next week, I'll get the other girl's room as it's bigger with a double bed. It's quiet all the time. My manager's complained about not having slept last night because of ...
London, England, United Kingdom sarahindenmark... the tour, Deutsch and I went up to him to chat, and had a photo next to this oddly-dressed guard. I asked him if he'd met the Queen, he told us he had several times and that she was really aware of what's going on in her kingdom/queendom/whatever. As Beefeaters have to have been in the military for 22 years, I was not surprised he'd met her. I was about to ask guy if he'd taken any celebrities. His name tag said "R. Stones", I was going to ask if he met Mick ...
London, England, United Kingdom danestern... the tunnel the joke I had previously made turned into reality. Was it because it was London, or was it because of our mood? We arrive at the station and proceed to drag our baggage out to the closest taxi rank. Turns out its the old style taxi's. A short ride later and we arrive at the hotel. We are offered an upgraded room "complete with all you see in the cabinet" (bath robes, slippers, complimentary water upon arrival (?!?) for 20£ a night. A polite refusal sees ...
Paris, France adamhills... Ich habe Schmerzen. It didn't help much. Things haven't run that smoothly today. I started the day off by turning the fridge freezer upside down. Apparently it is an ancient remedy for fridge hic-cups. I can't WAIT to get home to see if it has worked. Secondly, it rained. This scuppered plans to sand down a shelf unit, but as I should have been thinking about Germany, probably all too well ...
Stansted, England, United Kingdom nomadic... cause they are part of it) and we can all be at ease slagging each other off... Lots of fun!!! - - - - - I was also up in London for a course, I must look like some kind off nutter, as I am still in my tourist mode of appreciating everything, have you stopped lately and looked at the buildings for example on Trafalgar Square they are really grand and pretty :0)
London, England, United Kingdom sandramcnicol... was very cool. Out onto the streets again, this time heading towards St. Paul´s Catherdral to meet Angela. Angela took us across the Millenium Bridge and we had dinner at WaggaMamas, and later, a warm drink at the Oxo Tower. We walked back towards the London Eye and Big Ben, which looked great all lit up. We caught the train home from Westminster (we were beginning to shiver with cold at this point). Back at Angela´s we crashed into bed after such a exhausting cold day.
London, United Kingdom samuelosborne... Ben and Tom and Ben R all helped so much by taking "beautiful" photos of themselves, hence I now have a photo of my brother-in-laws **** as the background. I really need to learn to change that. Anna was "sick" and she and Ben helped me to organise my packing so I had reasonable amounts of underware, rather than the Mt Everest that I originally was going to pack. And so the adventure begins.... Imagine.... Amy is disorganised as usual - well not really ...
London, United Kingdom whereisamy... a room with Dasos (Greek fella with more bags than Cassie and I put together). Had a ball with the guys from the sharehouse (incl Brad, Andrew, Gayle, Erin, Kate and of course my roomies) - cheers for making the first few weeks of living in London a heap of fun. I also managed to catch up with Kat (Woodger, she'll be known as London Kat for the purpose of identifying the Kat's for this blog) - from ...
London, United Kingdom k.t.... my passport back, after thinking I may have to cancel my trip to Berlin because of its non-appearance. Having sent my passport off to the Vietnam embassy in London on the 1st September, assured that it would take 5 working days to process my visa application, I was getting a little worried when it hadn't turned up at the start of last week. After a worrying drive to the post office on Friday morning, and nearly having a heart attack when ...
Stansted Airport, United Kingdom michelleab... listless "officers" joking their way through their day and trying presumably to make the day pass more quickly. A loaf of a man parades up and down shouting numbers, a few passnegers sit on metal benches while the majority sit on their bags. The drinks machines have failed and everyone jostles, politley for a place at the head of a queue. Meanwhile bus drivers play solitaire as they try to reach their stands in front of all the other buses. At least ...
