    ... find my bearings in this city, there are so many back streets and alleys that intertwine, it's got me buggered. P.s. The acropolis looks amazing at night lit up like a Christmas Tree.     ... were finished and the sun had set, we had to go find a cab as we didn't relish climbing back up the hill to our village and once the sun is down, it gets chilly.


    In all, we have had a wonderful 4 full days here in Santorini and done everything we had thought to do except find the one windmill with sails. Everything else was accomplished and enjoyed. Now it is up early tomorrow for our flight back to Athens where we then sit ...

    ... to spend the day as opposed to wandering tourist shops, etc. The hostel I stayed at was the Youth Hostel Oia, and its pretty amazing. Just look at the pictures. And the bar on the roof has a great view of the sunset if you don't want to fight the couples for a good view. I'm off to Mykonos for some end of summer celebrating and sunning.     The boat stopped at the port of Naxos, then IOS before we saw the mountainous walls of the Caldera of Santorini. The wind was blowing 30 knots and more from the south even when we were inside the ring of high cliffs that surround the inner harbor.     The island of Santorini was formed out of the lava from the volcanic eruption in 1660 BC. The central part of the volcano sank into the sea leading to the emergence of Santorini itself and the tiny neighbouring islands of Thirasia, Palaia and Nea Kameni close by. Santorini is the only inhabited Caldera (volcano cauldron) in the world.
