... peaceful spot on the lake seemed impossible to get until we found a hill on one
of the islands, less people seemed so keen on leaving the paths around the islands and lake, preferring to stick in their groups so we exited up a tree covered hill and found some peace in the pagodas on top, no view because of the afore mentioned trees but a peaceful few minutes at least. ... we were able to sit for the over an hour bus ride back. The streets were packed with people heading back into town and the ride was long! Once back into the city we were able to take the subway back to the hotel were we had dinner at the buffer restaurant on the 22nd floor of the hotel. It was $40 per person which is a huge amount for China but at that point it did not matter. Tomorrow we are leaving at 6:30 for Nanjing which should be interesting.

In addition to these activities our students performed their much rehearsed chinese song which was well received by the crowd. Later they all danced with the Hangzhou students and enjoyed the festive atmosphere.
