We walked the 15 minutes along the river to get to the sanctuary, paid our fee, trekked the 20 minutes uphill into the forest and waited. By now, my fever had been reduced. We had a friendly enough driver who knew a little English, so had a stressfree drive to our hotel in Sanur....I say stress free but it is slightly concerning to see how they drive, how many scooters are on the road weaving between cars, and the amount of honking is incredible! By this time it was ...

... now full of people and Ogoh statues. These statues represented many evils and were to be burnt later in the night. Wow, talk about lots to digest on our first day in Bali.

The following day was a day of quiet and peace. The Balinese shut everything down the day after new yrs and meditate. This day is so scared to them, that they even shut down the airports on this day. Breanne and I spent the day in our accommodation to FaceTime and get things reorganized. A nice day ...
