... an older man as well and they were sitting one row apart. I did not really know what to make of all of this. Not much really happened either. There seem to be a lot of hoops to jump through so neither cases were really tried this morning. I guess in the case of the 16 year old it has been going on for a year and the trial has not started. Also just a personal observation both of the perpetrators were white American males. I was a mix of ...
Olongapo, Luzon, Philippines karey42Where to even begin! I guess I will start with some background info. Since I have just started this blog and have left out a lot of information I should explain where I work. I am currently assigned to work for Buklod Women's center. I really love the place. It was started by women who were former prostitutes in order to help support women who are currently prostitutes. They do this through a drop in center, livelihood projects, education as well as health ...

... up and found out that this picturesque landscape is right here in my motherland. It's in Pampanga and called Anawangin Cove - unspoiled by irresponsibility and greediness. Wow! Unbelievable! So, this magnificence is just outside my doorstep; I want to see it for myself. I dreamt of walking along its shore, cherishing the uniqueness of the place with the pine trees and the sea - one before the other. I imagined sitting on the white sand facing the ...

Tourists should likewise do their part in preserving the beauty of Anawangin (and Camara and Capones too). Everyone should do their share in preserving the place so that a lot more would also be awed by its beauty and serenity. San Antonio, Zambales, Philippines deechieThis entry has the pictures taken when we were in Canoe Beach in Zambales and in Ocean Adventure, Subic. The Zambales beach wasn't worth the hour long drive from Subic, which was already more than 3 hours away from Makati. But we were booked in a resort in Zambales so we stayed the afternoon there. The beach swarmed with people swimming but the resort wasn't called Canoe Beach for nothing. As soon as Manuel and I entered the water, a ...
Subic, Luzon, Philippines lizaresandrea... Shortly after landing the pilot told us that the Hong Kong airport was closed for the night due to the typhoon and that we would not be leaving the Philippines until tomorrow. He said that they would try and find hotels for us nearby and to be patient and he would get back to us with more information. After a couple of hours just sitting there I thought I would get up and stretch my legs and get something to drink since we were not being offered anything. I went back to the ...

Saturday Night in fact, Another PCV and I were chilling at a street cafe having a San Migel (The only Filipino beer company) and enjoying our chicken and pork on a stick. Four homeless (looking) kids approached us and asked for money. The other PCV started talking with the eldest and asked if she was hungry with ...

With the rejection of the treaty for the extension of their bases in the country, the Americans withdrew their forces from the area, a move everyone thought would mark Subic's end.
Over the years, however ...
