Southampton, England, United Kingdom shunny1981... is quite big in the UK, the shops are full of Halloween stuff and dress up clothing! Elle and I decorated the front of the house with stickers etc. Elle had done a pumpkin at school and Jane found this battery operated light that switched on and off and changed colour. You'll see some lovely photos of us dressed up.

Elle's friend had a party for the kids and then they went trick a treating.. everyone in the neighbourhood was quite good except for ...
Trowbridge, England, United Kingdom sares12... I even saw a picture of the bathing compartments pulled by horses into the water so people could swim without anyone seeing them in their swimmers. I'm presuming it was for the women! I also presume their swimmers were neck to ankle... lol what would they think these days!!

I was going to have lunch on the pier but they weren't selling any food.. ah well you can't have it all your own way!
Bournemouth, England, United Kingdom sares12... woops. I'm still in one piece so its all good. And of course we had lunch in a pub, a nice roast with HUGE... I mean HUGE Yorkshire puddings. Beaulieu is a lovely place too, an old Abbey sits on the rive in town. I saw where Ric************ owned a huge place within the forest. Christchurch ...

Jane Austen apparently stayed in Southampton for a time as well.

The last night with the Smiths and we had a bit of a party night, I bought Indian... the music was put on and we were dancing and Olly was playing with his guitar and the dogs!

Southampton, England, United Kingdom sares12... the
final resting place of the Duke of Wellington (I have no idea which one, or why he's that important), Florence Nightingale, and the actual resting place of Admiral Lord Nelson, of Nelson's column in Trafalgar Square. There was even a bust of George Washington, though he is most certainly not buried there. It was also touching to see, though. The crypt also had tombs of many other various important people. Some of these tombs, such as that of William Blake, were ...
Salisbury, England, United Kingdom the.waitrixA typical English winter day is supposed to be drab, grey and rather damp - I was certainly treated to that today. The weather here has also been a lot colder, perhaps due to being in a geographically different area but in part I imagine because London's bustling metropolis manages to insulate a lot of the cold out. I've been wearing two layers of woollens here over my top and rarely emerge without glove AND beanie, but for the most part it's still been pretty fun! I came ...
Salisbury, United Kingdom cheli... Besides the obvious butchering of what once was sacred pagan grounds, Stonehenge was everything I exspected it to be, no more no less. It's pretty crazy how our past pagan societies understood and manipulated the land to create a powerful symbolic ritual forums. I was told that for certain ceramonies thay traveld for days into the direction of Stonehenge. It was constructed at the top of the hill so that the path they took (which, from what I remember has ...
Salisbury, United Kingdom pura.vida... yet. Even the open rooms, most of the items have yet to be cataloged. One of the guides commented that Mrs. Hussey kept lots of stuff (read junk) that will probably be sold or thrown out, and that when the curators first entered the house, they would enter a room, then exit, hoping the next room had less stuff. She also had a love for fake flowers, so in the family room, there is a large bouquet of spring flowers, definitely made in the 70's style of plastic flowers ...
Salisbury, United Kingdom manofmayo... and their bill was £9 ($18USD)! Our lattes were great! Their coffee on the other hand, was terrible! Dad even added cream to his and still couldn't drink it. Dad finished & went outside while the rest of us went to the bathroom. He was talking to a Hell's Angels member - nicest person we've met so far! We got back on the road and went on to Stonehenge. It was really awesome! The stones are HUGE! Two ...
