Today I finally went to the Huangshan Mountains (Shan=Mountain in Chinese). I departed from the hostel together with some other Chinese tourists and two French tourists. We took the first bus from the hostel to Tangkou, from there we had to take another bus in order to go to the cablecare which would take us up. When we arrived in Tangkou I had actually no idea what to do next, I knew what I planned to do, which route ...

It's been a while, I've been back to Japan for one week, stayed in Hong Kong for another week and now I'm in China! In Huangshan, famous for its Yellow Mountains, where I will go to as soon as I have my first day off. Same as in Busan and Kibichuo(Okayama) I'm doing volunteerwork here as well. But it's definitely different from the places before. 1) I'm the only volunteer ...

I got my passport back last week and finally went on an excursion outside of Qingdao! Rather than going on a quick getaway I decided to take a 23 hour sleeper train down to Huangshan Shi in Anhui province. I met my friend Ollie who's studying in Tianjin down there. Anhui had loadsa bamboo, a mystical mountain and a couple of ancient villages to explore. It was great but very wet.
      Our first day there ...

... is a nice clear and sunny day. On the bus I meet a really nice girl called Iris who helps translate for us. The actual hike itself is not as tough as Huashan Mountain, the stairs are less steep and much less scary, despite this though I'm still out of breath and sweating like crazy, guess my fitness level still needs to improve a bit but it sure is fun to be hiking again especially on such a beautiful ...

Today is a nice and easy day, I sleep in a little bit before I go to buy my bus ticket for the afternoon. Just my luck that the ticket machine is broken but it's not that big of a deal as the hostel reception tell me that I can get bus tickets on the day at the bus station, which was good, it just meant I had to leave earlier than planned. I go one last time to my street food place to grab some funky bread for breakfast but it's not that great so I go back to the hostel and ...
