At 4.50am we set off up the mountain to see the sunrise at 6am. It's about a 40 minute hike up quite a steep slope with many many stairs and it's pitch black! We told Ada to have a sleep in so we went alone.........well we were alone except for a few hundred others, mainly Chinese. They did have torches however so they were quite handy to stay near. By the time we reached the top, the mist was so thick you couldn't ...

Today is all about travel. Getting from one city to the other. After breakfast we went to go outside but it's really raining heavily so that's a no go. Our guide arrives to take us to the airport for our flight to Tunxi. This airport is closer than Pudong but there is still a fair bit of traffic and the weaving in and out is like a slow dance. Our guide gets us to the check in counter and that's his job done. We have a couple of hours to ...

Today is a nice and easy day, I sleep in a little bit before I go to buy my bus ticket for the afternoon. Just my luck that the ticket machine is broken but it's not that big of a deal as the hostel reception tell me that I can get bus tickets on the day at the bus station, which was good, it just meant I had to leave earlier than planned. I go one last time to my street food place to grab some funky bread for breakfast but it's not that great so I go back to the hostel and ...

Me and a group of friends decided to climb Mt. Huangshan which isn't very far away from Nanjing by train. We left on Friday afternoon and came back by night train on Monday morning.

I don't know if you have heard of this mountain which is also called the "Mountain of Mists" and which inspired many Chinese artists over centuries. The views are supposed to be out of this world, even inspiring the creators of Avatar. That's when there is good ...

... sold for the "soft seat" cars and there was also plenty of leg room and even a couple shared power outlets. After the "hard seat" from the other day, it felt like traveling first class and I slept well. I arrived in Shanghai at 9am and headed to a coffee shop in Pudong where I hung out for a while reading and waiting til I thought it would be late enough to check into my hostel. Once I checked into my hostel, I took a long overdue shower, got some laundry done, and worked out whether ...
