Our morning tour starts at the Tokyo Tower and we enjoyed a clear panoramic view of Tokyo. It was wonderful. Clear skies, sunny day and no lines for us since we are on a tour. Next is the Meiji Shrine where we see Japanese shrine architecture and tons of weddings. We walk through a gate and get purified. Then we wash our hands and mouth and go to the shrine and pray. ... They are usually found in 7-11 stores and Post Offices. But, of course the airport has them for all the incoming foreigners. The exchange in Japan is simple to figure. 10,000 Yen equals $100. So, 100 Yen is $1.

The next hurdle was to figure out the subway and train system. Once I found my train from the airport, my next obstacle was to find the connection points. I have to use 3 trains to get from the airport to the hostel.

... with the occasional commuter passing through to make offerings and say prayers before continuing on with their day. We made it in time to hear the taiko drums which mark the start of the day, tour the grounds a little, make our presence know to the gods. ... and emptied out the noodles and used the polystyrene bowls which the noodles came in :) after breakfast we took the metro to a old Shinto shrine called the Meji Shrine. We had to cross the famous Shibuya Crossing on route. Photos of people walking across the crossing with the stores in the background are usually how tokyo is promoted. ... and if we thought the previous station was big...we were wrong!!!!! This station was even bigger and people everywhere.
Somehow we ended up on street level just as it started to rain and wandered the streets until we found our hotel.

The rooms in Japan are tiny....the bathroom was the size of a cupboard, although it did have a cool toilet with lots of buttons...Anthony thought it was funny to leave the heated seat on for me!!!
