The group split into ones who go fishing and the rest of us go for a snorkelling trip. Neither turned out to what we had imagined!
The fishing lot left at 0630 and were given an awful breakfast on the boat. They found themselves in a channel with the boat rocking to and fro and then side to side. Then 3 of them were sick over the side. The rods were fixed, so they didn't actually fish. Then they caught nothing.
... the total we were paying was 30000 shilling and the other people would pay the same. It quickly became apparent that there were no other people and the boss rang and demanded $40 from us, which was double the agreed price. I told him outright that we were not paying this and the arguing continued. ... story short, tortoises were cool and all, but our amusement only lasted about 45 minutes while the time allotted was about twice that, so we were more than ready to go snorkeling when the time came.

... numerous beach parties, plentiful Konyagi, a lovely beach and an even more lovely surf. We all bought sarongs and cotton pants and lazed around in our bikinis. We did a full day snorkelling trip to the Mnemba Atoll which was indescrible, complete with a fish lunch caught off the back of the boat. We went swimming with giant green sea turtles and dined on beautiful fish every night. Heaven! (minus the sunburn haha)).
