    ... that there isn’t necessarily any restaurants and shops nearby (or landmarks to direct a taxi driver to) and you even – believe it or not – have to walk a bit to find a rickshaw. So we found ourselves going to or ordering from our only local restaurant, ‘Hotel Irani’ every evening, as it was the only one within a 2 km radius. Luckily it was delicious authentic South Indian food (although a bit spicy for the kids).

    We are in paradise, or at least it feels like it:) We have now arrived Kerala and spent the last couple of days in Kovalum.

    ... cos she's good fun. We all had mixed veg curry which was 50 rupees. I also had 2 chapatis and a big bottle of water. Sam was pretty eager to go and get wasted afterwards even though I wasn't feeling well but I agreed to go for one drink. Which turned into 2 whisky sours.     ... the climb as the views were amazing. Even though it was starting to rain a little, but this soon passed. We got some lovely photos and it was nice as it was just shutting we were the only people up there. On the way back down we noticed the amazing sunset coming through the trees and sat for some lovely photos and watched it go down. We were still in the grounds of the lighthouse and as we took so long when we got to the enterance it was all locked up. Oops. ...

    ... find this bus, our gratitude for air conditioning surpassed last night on the train when we stepped onto this bus. It was heaven! Kovalam is a seaside area a bit further south of Trivandrum. The sea breeze does nothing to calm the hot and muggy air. We had showers and were immediately sweaty again, so accepted that it is going to be this way in Kerala and went out for dinner.
