We left Hawkes bay behind, as we commenced our longest journey yet to Wellington. We had planned places to stop and things to do along the way, so all was not lost. The main state highway road was also much better, being straighter, flatter and slightly wider (however still only remaining as 2 lanes for the most part) compared to the narrow and winding state highway roads we have experienced so far!
