... Friday Ollie, dad and I packed up the van and drove to Hamilton to pick mom up from her work event which finished about 3pm. We then drove down to the mountain, this time staying in a backpackers a little closer to the slopes. You could really tell the difference in temperature and this time there was snow in National Park, a good sign. It was an excellent day weather wise for the trek with clear skies and neither too hot or too cold. We were very lucky as there are warnings the weather can change at any time of year and always be prepared. We had lots of water and layers and wore walking shoes. ... so I called the number displayed and was promptly informed that the trek had be cancelled due to not enough people being available and therefore health and safety meant they couldn't run the midnight/sunrise hike! And as they were cancelling and not me, I was to be fully refunded!! The relief I felt was blissful!
