... dinner we had a traditional Swedish meal with a smörges torte entree and taco and vegetable pies for dinner. Dessert was Spomenka's Strawberry Cake (so good) and our biscuits. We were also lucky enough to have some light entertainment for the evening. Stinas' dad performed some magic tricks which were alot of fun. I still can't figure out how he did his final trick. Very Clever. As a special treat, and much to Stina's horror she played ...
Mantorp, Östergötlands Län, Sweden heathje... played RnB and other music i like, but there wasn't many people there so we moved across the street to Platå (pronounced platua). The music here wasn't really for me, techno, both english and swedish. After dancing till my feet hurt, Sanja and i just sat on the couches and relaxed a bit. We left the club at 3am and caught a cab home. It was a good night. We tried tequila shots, definately a new favourite! The girls also sang hapy birthday to me at midnight, in Swedish (yes ...
Linköping, Östergötlands Län, Sweden heathjeThe Magic family have been great, making us feel at home and showing us all the sites. On the 2nd of July we went with the wole family, along with some old family friends, to Gränna (pronounced Grenna). Gränna is the town where candy canes were first made, and are still made today, all year round. We went to a store where we watched polka (candy cane) being made. It was quite hypnotic. Suprisingly, polka ...
Ödeshög, Östergötlands Län, Sweden heathje... be missing the Super Bowl which won't start here until midnight. Think we'll miss it. We leave here at 5:45 am for the train to Stockholm and then for flight home. We thought about going to bed early, but it's hard to stop talking. The Spenser's are so easy to spend talking for a long time. We discuss Church, doctrine, Christian values and more. Paul and Kira, in spite of ...
Mjolby, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden victorkubik... home or somewhere for the weekend. We got onto our train for south central Sweden where Paul and Kira live. On the section of the trip to Stockholm the train was crowded and I had to stand, but after Stockholm seating eased up. Paul Spenser was at the other end to pick us up. Good feeling. We drove to Mjölby. It was great to see Kira along with Aaron, Isaak and Viki. John Wennström from Oslo had arrived and ...
Mjolby, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden victorkubik... is about $1.80 for the first unit. Paul and Kira sent out our Nordic Newsletter to all the GN readers in Sweden in October. It would have been cheaper to send it from the USA, however, we want to maintain a local rather strictly American identity here. We do sent 500 Good News magazines to Scandinavia from the US. It is definitely cheaper an d more efficient than sending them from here. We still do the ...
Mjölby, Sweden victorkubikWe have spent the last week visiting with family and friends in the part of Sweden where I was an exchange student so many years ago. We attended 2 birthday parties and a graduation party plus many hours of coffee, lunches and visits. It's amazing that after so many years the same closeness and feelings exist. Codi says it's like her own grandma and grandpa, cousins, etc. They have been so welcoming and today when we said "goodbye ...
Motala, Sweden sgarris... Kira tells us that we'll see lots of reindeer who have gotten used to people and moose. Paul, Kira and I then sat down for some focused time to plan out what we needed to do regarding our preaching the Gospel here in Scandinavia. We were encouraged by two new donors. The immediate project that Paul and Kira have is to distribute our English brochure "Are We Living in the End Times?" to 2000 households in Mjolby. Inside there ...
Mjölby, Sweden victorkubik... Youth Day back home and I listened to Tom Peine give thanks and tribute to the students and teachers. He did a very nice job. He then gave a shocking announcement about the sudden death of one of our members Ron Fry who was going through radiation and chemotherapy. He died the day before. Sunday we will go sightseeing and see some interesting Swedish countryside and history.
Mjölby, Sweden victorkubikWashingtonians go out of their way to avoid driving on ice. Not here in Sweden. Instead they hold events called 'Isracing' which involve racing motorcycles on a rink of ice at incredibly high speeds. Well, the speeds seemed high to me as a member of the audience about 15 feet from the ice with a portable fence and barrels of hay between me and the motorcycles. 'Oh they are hardly accidents, it´s a very safe sport´ I was told. Hmm, in ...
