... for the night, a lovely place in the midst of a tea plantation on the hills. It was just beautiful, quiet and ordered after the chaotic drive. I think even our very experienced driver was relieved when he took the final bend and the last pothole! The following day was spent exploring Munnar. This area is dominated by tea plantations, chocolate and coffee. We found out the history of tea in the area and how the leaves of Camellia sinensis are picked and processed to ...
... so hard to not scratch but I really don't want marks everywhere, especially on my face and that's the most itchy one! Day 3 dawned, Wednesday. We should have gone on to Madurai today, and left Munnar, but the strike continued. Shaji drove us up to the top of the hill on the Munnar road, but it had been blockaded...no going anywhere today for us. The blockade was pretty insubstantial, and the atmosphere among the dozen or so men at the roadside was good humoured...but there was ...
