Drove across Bodmin Moor to the pub called "Jamaica Inn," scene of the novel by Daphne Du Maurier. The pub was built as a coaching house in 1750. We looked at the museum , partly about the authoress and partly about Cornish smuggling through the years, the subject of the book. ... From Cheddar we headed towards Glastonbury, hoping to catch a sight of the Tor. Indeed it was visible from a ridge in the landscape from some miles distant. We kept going through Glastonbury village following the National Trust signs for the Tor. Although we're both members of the Trust and can get in for free, again we didn't want to have to park the car, get out and walk some distance to obtain a picture, especially as the NT are past masters of placing their car parks ...

... s birthday dinner! We had this all you can eat pasta, which we found out is much different than we had expected it to be! There were different dishes of pasta that would come out one at a time, and then you would eat that. Then, a new dish would come out! They would just keep bringing you food until you told them to stop. There was so much food we didn't know what to do with ourselves! It was quite delicious though!
