... places that were open. Within minutes some guys had swarmed us leading us to their hostels. We found a great deal at a colorful painted hostel with small cabins located right on the beach. We called the room I shared with 5 of the other teachers “Grandma’s Caribbean Cabin.”

The next 3 days were a blur of laying on the beach, swimming in the bathtub temp water, and eating delicious food. Eating a fresh coconut on a tropical beach is ...
Placencia, Stann Creek, Belize mgesley... and a couple glasses of water!).

Kalin wanted a nap after so I chilled in the hammock on our porch with a book. In the afternoon we went for a walk around the whole island, taking a ton of pictures of all the colorful little houses. A well deserved swim kicked ass after our hour or two of walking around in the heat. Almost that time for food again so after a good hour in the water, I headed back to our awesome little guesthouse for a shower. Was so ...
Placencia, Stann Creek, Belize lindsaym... he came back and led us to a small group feeding in the treetops. After watching the monkeys a while we headed back to the boat and to the town of Monkey River where we ate lunch. After lunch Raymond took us for a walk around the village and pointed out the school, park and hurricane shelter. The school there teaches kids until 6th grade and after that they are bussed to another town for high ...
Placencia, Stann Creek, Belize margreet98... it was not so much drops as a constant down flow. The rain and storms continued for most of the next day but at least the rain and the sea were both warm. As this was the closed season a lot of the establishments were closed but we visited a few bars and restaurants all served good food at an average price. The places visited in no particular order were: Wendy's Restaurant Excellent Chinese Restaurant The Pickled Parrot Bar J Byrd's Bar The Purple Space Monkey.
Placencia, Stann Creek, Belize christo58... Dangriga, it was looking a bit run down so we thought this Mango Creek idea was worth trying out. So we stayed on the bus for another hour until we reached Mango Creek and of course we were the only tourists on the bus and one of the only people getting off at this stop. A local that also got off at this stop said he would show us where we could get a boat. We met a man that runs the Hokie Pokie Ferry and was able to get ...
Placencia, Stann Creek, Belize travelbee... day was another mammoth sun soaking session only interupted by cool dips in the Caribbean sea and the odd burrito and margarita from the nearby "Barefoot Bar". It was full moon that evening and when the moon rose, it appeared to have come up directly over the horizon where the sun had set. It was definitely larger and brighter than we´d both ever seen before, appearing to mimic a slightly dimmer sun which had decided to resurface after setting. An insanely ...
Placencia, Belize saanddkWe were offered a lift to Belmopan by a Canadian couple who had been staying at J&Rs. We thought they were being kind till they asked for money for 'gas', but we went along, gave them 10 bucks and caught a bus with minutes to spare! I was well hacked off when I realised I'd left my sunglasses on the seat of the car! As the bus was going all the way to Placencia we decided to go there. Good decision as the two other places we had thought of stopping at, Dangriga and Hopkins, didn ...
Placencia, Belize mariejeanwilson... this wicked music blastin' out of the speakers, really fun to listen to and also watching the kids and the people dance was pretty neat. I noticed that black ladies in clubs that can shake their booty really well learn at a young age, like 8....crazy. Tuesday we hired these fisherman to take us to Tobacco Cayes (keys). We showed up to the dock area around 9am to catch a boat out to the key. Our friend Clifford who had stopped us the day ...
Dangriga, Belize nikolassarah... we were slothful in the extreme, and spent the 3 of the 4 days we were here reading, relaxing and deciding what to eat, without breaking the bank. Things are far, far more expensive than we thought, so this was a great place just to take things easy. We also spent a couple of lazy afternoons solving the problems of the world with fellow travellers, who are without exception in the left-leaning mould as well - to find someone to argue with who wasn't as boringly ...
Placencia, Belize damnfunkin... road and on the front porch there was some laundry hanging out to dry. He dared me to go up the stairs to the porch, and take a huge wiff of the ****** netting of the bathing suit that was hanging out to dry. I figured they had just been cleaned, so why the hell not. I scoped out the scene and when timing was right, I non-challantly walked up the stairs, grabbed the bathing suit and leaned in ...
