... I even saw a picture of the bathing compartments pulled by horses into the water so people could swim without anyone seeing them in their swimmers. I'm presuming it was for the women! I also presume their swimmers were neck to ankle... lol what would they think these days!!
I was going to have lunch on the pier but they weren't selling any food.. ah well you can't have it all your own way!
... is not really a speed demon, but the slower pace suits us fine as we are in no hurry... it also conserves fuel which is important considering the distance we will be covering over the next few months. So we don't really go faster than 50 mile/hr (80km/h for the aussies at home) and we avoid the motorways as there generally is ...
Lyme Regis, England, United Kingdom darrenhough74This weekend, Aunt Jane and Derek were heading to Poole for the weekend with some friends. Hannah and I were both invited.. we left Friday afternoon to catch the train from Havant to Southampton then change to a train to Poole.
It was pretty uneventful trip, Hannah actually managed to do some homework. Dedication.. I don't think I was doing that sort of thing in Yr 10.. especially not going away for the weekend!!
Derek picked us up ...
... had lunch of crab sanwiches just off the Cobb and a walk along to find to our dismay a couple of mad Pommees actually swimming in the sea!! Unbelievable.
Back through Dorchester to have a look at Prince Charles pet product at Poundberry, a "modern" development that looks like a prison and promises to be a blight on the landscape as a slum in 50 years time. Back home through the fog and out in the evening to be ...
... erectors Karen & Eric who we had meet through Karen's support website Behind the Gray not even a year ago and oh how glad we were to know them and have them come visit, we would never have managed to get it up on our own, it would probably be at some refuse tip now!! So a huge "BIG THANK YOU" to Karen & Eric. To say the weather was bad would be a bit of an understatement but it was typical bank holiday weather rain rain and wind and yet ...
Wareham, Dorset, United Kingdom teamceri... 7am and I found myself behind the wheel of the bus, shattered from working all night and now trying to manoeuvre the bus in to a tight space in the depot, surrounded by a collection of swanky, new, currently undented buses. Oh joy ! My thoughts returned to West Bay where that post leapt out and hit the back of the bus. These swanky new buses would be more expensive. What foolish company would allow a novice bus driver with no bus driving qualifications in to their depot ...
Weymouth, United Kingdom spooky388Good God ! I made the front page of The Dorset Echo. There was even a continuation on page 4. A picture of me hanging out of the front door of the bus and a huge article about the trip. Not all of it strictly accurate, but what the hell ! I can't recall when a event in Weymouth warranted this much coverage. Perhaps I should have sold them some advertising space, seeing as our project is filling their pages for them ...
Weymouth, United Kingdom spooky388... nearly 40 years!
We decide that rather than take our car again, we would go by rail. This would then compell us to continue by rail and other public transport methods. We chose to go on a Great Rail Journey with the company of the same name. Taking the Glacier Exprees package choice we set off for Waterloo Station in London, from our local station at Yeovil Junction early on a late June morning.
This is the story of that trip, its sights and its 'wonders' !!!
