Jumping Off Stuff

... do fail to capture just how beautiful it was. Horses, sheep and cows everywhere. I took my time on the walk and ended up quite a way back from the others for most of it, which gave me a chance to make friends with some horses and drink my hot chocolate whilst enjoying one of the waterfalls.

We drove on to the capital, Wellington, but we spent barely 10 hours there, arriving late and leaving very, very early. Luckily, we also lost the last of ...

... we parked on the side of the road and took off down the path to see the famous Pancake Rocks. They were just as cool as I remember and Mark and I had a blast making corny jokes about syrup and taking selfies. We all said that at the lake we would all jump off the wharf at the iconic stop. But when we got ...

... began our two day adventure! Luckily the sun was shining as we started the day with a water taxi all the way to the other side of the national park where we'd start kayaking. Our guide took our group of eight out to Tonga Island first of all. The small rocky island is home to loads of female seals and their babies and we managed to catch a glimpse of some of these which was pretty cool! We proceeded along the coast for a couple of hours until we found a little beach to ...

... We travelled alongside the mighty Buller river, which rises from Lake Rotoiti and flows into the Tasman sea at Westport. The Buller River's Maori name is Kawatiri, meaning deep and swift. This is quite fitting for a river that has the greatest flood discharge of all New Zealand's rivers. It was a fascinating drive and just before we got to Westport we pulled into Buller adventure tours for those who wanted to take part in any activities while ...
