... like that there and apparently has the most sunshine in the whole of New Zealand. We thought we'd better make the most of the weather and pulled over in the waterfront town. Here we walked up to a viewpoint which happened to be the exact middle of New Zealand and gave us a good view over Nelson. We also did what we always do when visiting a new place and entered the tourist information centre to find out what to do in the surrounding area. An hour away was the Abel ...

The walk took around two and a half hours and was followed by a cool drink at the Ngakawau Tavern. Got back to another gorgeous evening at Mokihinui, and Richard visited the Tavern run by Basil.
The next day we packed up early ...

... Since I was dressed for the South Pole, we ate inside but the views of the water were lovely. We ordered a seafood antipasta for two which was both different and delicious. We both felt that it had been a very special morning. We continued to drive along the shoreline and stopped at a place where the shore was eroding to look for driftwood. It was a very different scene: rock formations that ...
