Dinosaur National Monument was next on our schedule. The first entrance is about 20 miles east of Vernal. Our trailer needed some professional attention so I sent Darlene, Larry and Kathy on while I investigated our problem.

Immediately after lunch we enter the beautiful Split Mountain Canyon. The rock layers visible where the river cut into the mountain, and the general upheaval surrounding the entrance are amazing. I am certain that I am using too many words like beautiful, amazing, stunning, and so forth, but I simply cannot come up with enough different words to praise the scenery.

... the end of the story - in the morning Glenn was resigned to losing his rope, but Jill and Greg kept working at it. We were starting to think that it would be a game for future campers at Jones Hole 3 for years, but to great cheering, they finally freed it from the tree.
One extra note - Tevas are the traditional river footwear, especially for women. I have included a photo of the Tevas, and what our feet look like after spending much time on the river!

the rock strata to a glass and metal building on an overlook above
the Green River.
