Last night I went to ladies night with my Aunty and some of her work friends. Ladies night in Dubai basically means free drinks for ladies! The main night for it is Tuesday however bars do it on different nights as well and each bars offering is different. The place we went to last night was free unlimited wine until 11pm but some other places do …

... long and only 1/3 of the counters were open. Once we officially entered the country, we looked at what Dubai Duty Free had to offer us. After that, we went to collect our bags, only to find a sea of bags all over the floor surrounding the baggage belt. I asked myself "Who in their right mind did this?" Dubai Customs is also pretty lax, except for a few random security checks.
Once we left the building, we waited another 20 minutes for our coach ...

..and I am waiting for my departure from Dubai to Thailand.
It has been a good trip so far.
Left my house early today to get to Heathrow and get there early leaving time for some shopping and coffee.
Then some one last minute “facetime” with my father telling me once again I got to take care of myself and take lots of pictures and off we left ...
... These guys are the new rich of China....and no doubt they'll be heading to a place of interest near you soon, so be prepared.
London and home beckons and it funny to think that it's taken us so many weeks to get to Hong Kong and that it will only take 19 hours to get back home by flying. It'll be interesting to see merry old Blighty after being away for so long. Arctic weather is due apparently, so that'll be something to look forward to..........

Historical Traveler Reviews Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina
The hotel itself is gorgeous, very clean smart and impressive.
Our 10-day stay at the 'Westin Mina Seyahi' Dubai started on the 3rd day after the hotel opened.
We checked into this hotel during the first week of opening, ok there were always going to be teething problems, but with occupancy rates kept low during the first few days, you would think that they would be responsive to any problems encountered by guests and respond quickly when things went wrong.
We have just returned from a 6 night stay at The Westin and did have a great holiday. The hotel itself is amongst one of the best hotels I have stayed at on Jumeirah Beach. The Colonial finish, Marble lobby,Beautiful chandelers and great pool area all made this is a stunning hotel.
Having stayed at numerous hotels in Dubai over the last 8 years i was looking forward to staying in a brand new 5 star establishment on Jumeriah beach. The hotel had literaly opened the day we arrived so a few teething problems were to be expected and we were not disapointed, all of the following are not enough to spoil a break but enough to cause agitation, room not serviced for 3 days, mini bar (which was soft drinks only) not re-plenished in 8 days, restaurant service was poor with staff not aware of customers needs, in the buffet restaurant we found other people sat at our table when returning with food, long waits for simple things like water, plates not cleared, wrong cutlery, given wrong bills with service cards already completed, change of paramiters of half board the day we arrived ( the buffet restaurant was free and originaly we could have 120 dirham contribution to the bill in the other restaurants, on arrival this was cut to 60 less than £9 which would not cover a starter), staff around the pool were rarely around for assistance and with only 1 pool bar operational on 150 meter pool they should have been around more. I am sure things will improve with time and need to as the prices the property are looking to charge in the future will need to come with much higher service levels.
Some minor building/cosmetic work still outstanding but nothing that should really effect your stay. Nice rooms, nice pool, nice Hotel. However some aspects of the Service and quality have a very long way to go.
Had A Great Time
We booked our trip through Best At Travel (Jason). He recommended the hotel and trusted his advice, we were not disappointed.
Westin was fantastic, rooms were very spacious and food was to a high standard, Blue orange offered a great variety and always tasted good.
Only down side was the check-in/out but seen we arrived on the opening day this was easy to over-look.
We will def be back and don't be put off.
