What an awesome hotel. Within walking distance of restaurants, nightlife, and other entertainment. The rooms are excellent. Stayed on the 8th floor facing the harbor. View wasnt what I expected but the room was incredible. The bed was the most "heavenly" thing I had ever slept on (so nice that when I got home I went and bought some of the heavenly line) Rooms are spacious (mine had a king bed, couch, and a huge bathroom). Hotel staff was friendly and super helpful. Free shuttle is about a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Shuttle takes you to Aquarium, Harbor, Queen Mary and all over town. Make sure to eat at Yard House, a nearby restaurant. You will definately be pleased. If you are traveling alone its a $15 shuttle from LGB Airport. If you are traveling in a group of 2 or 3 take a taxi, itll be cheaper. Pool/Hottub and gym are nice. Would definately stay there again!
Sleeping on clouds....
Enchanted! Both my Fiancée and I had the best sleep we had EVER had in a hotel! Immediately upon arrival, we were greeted by a courteous and professional staff. When checking in, we were upgraded to a suite in the highest floor. The room was spacious, inviting and the view was to die for. The bed was absolutely out of this world! The bedding was clean, white, crisp and plushhhh! My Fiancée found the big wide screen TV. to be the cherry on top. The pillows were clean and fluffy. We were pleasantly surprised with the attention to detail, prompt service when I asked for a toothbrush since my fiancée had left his behind. The hotel was extremely clean.
The location was the best. Walking distance to all the nightlife, clubs and restaurants. This Hotel is one of the nicest yet.
Nice hotel, great location
Got this on Hotwire for a reasonable $86 and for the price we paid, this was an excellent hotel. The front dest staff immediately upgraded us to a king room upon our request. (Hotwire always books you into a double). The room was very comfortable and we were within walking distance of many bars and restaurants in this area. Wonderful double shower head and excellent room amenities. We booked this for one night before our cruise leaving out of Long Beach and it was a very short cab ride to the cruise terminal.
Westin...my home away from home
My stay at this hotel lasted for a week...management was happy to quote me a lower price for the week. The hotel is pretty typically Westin...luxury, well-run, courteous staff. I rented a car and parked the car myself in their well-lit parking garage (I felt perfectly safe) and saved money. The room was large and very well kept throughout the week. The hotel has a wonderful location right on Ocean Avenue. The pool is outside on the 5th floor and is heated...that was wonderful after a long day. And the "heavenly bed" was all it was advertised to be! All in all, I'd stay there again and again!
Wonderful Renovated Hotel
The Westin Long Beach is a great hotel, especially if you are going to the LB convention center about one block away. Due to full hotels during my trade show, I stayed at the LB Hyatt for 3 nights and then moved to the LB Westin for 3 nights. I preferred the Westin although the Hyatt is connected to the convention center.
The Westin has been recently renovated and the rooms are beautiful. Modern luxury and the heavenly beds can't be matched. The bathrooms are gorgeous also. Nice big windows and there are many restaurants within walking distance.
A nice place
We stayed here back in February, 2004 for Valentine's day weekend. This hotel is fairly typical of the Westin chain...business oriented, clean, modern, decent public areas. We had dinner at the restaurant which was pretty good. (The draw-back to this hotel is that there are not a lot of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel).
The rooms were nicely furnished, clean...everything you'd expect from a Westin. I can't say that this is a spectacular hotel, but if you can get a room for, say under $120 per night, it's not a bad deal either.
Very nice hotel
I was impressed by this hotel. It seemed more of a business hotel but it is nice. The room was a good size and had all the regular amentities of a first class hotel. The bell hop was very helpful and explained the room and hotel facilities. The restuarant was very nice and the food was great at very reasonable prices. The pool was warm and a decent size, unfortunatley it was very dirty with newspapers and towels. I called the service express and they sent someone down right away. The next day the pool was sparkling clean. The hotel is convient to both Pine Square and the Pike. All within walking distance. Valet is the standard $15.
Very nice hotel. Clean, quiet rooms with refrigerators, microwaves and over 30 channels of cable tv. Close to the Catalina ferry(10 minutes) and the beach. The location is definetly a downtown area and not a good place for night time walking. For example the Pizza Hut across the street has bullet proof glass.
Great, Clean Hotel!!
The Westin LB was a great hotel. The rooms are GREAT! I love Westin's rooms. They are very clean, well furnished and VERY comfortable. Mine had a great view of the harbor. The heavenly shower is great. The decor is surperb - modern, but very comfortable and inviting. The heavenly bed, as usual, was fabulous. Room service was pretty good - nothing spectacular. I did notice that the prices of room service were unusually low. $12 for breakfast as opposed to $22 (plus, of course, the ubiquitous $3 'service' charge, 14% sales tax, and an in room dining fee or something, PLUS the tip). The hotel lobby was undergoing renovations, so it should be looking pretty nice soon. As it was, the building and grounds were very attractive. Underground parking is plentiful (albiet quite confusing to navigate as it is shared with an attached office complex) at $11. Remember to ask the front desk for a 'parking voucher' when you check in so you can have in and out privelages (something I was not aware of until I tried to leave the garage on an errand). What prevented me giving the hotel a 5 star rating was the service. The front desk staff that I encountered was quite rude and unhelpful as was the 'service express' operator, much more so that any other starwood property I can think of. I had printed out a $20 food and beverage voucher that starwood.com emailed me for a promotion. When I presented it, she said I 'printed it out wrong' (there were no instructions on 'how' to print it out) and it was quite a push before she finally said 'I'll go ahead and give it to you" as if it was some sort of big favor. Then when checking out, it didnt even show up on my bill, so I went back to tell her of the mistake and she just refunded the $20 without saying much of anything, as if it happenes a lot. I do love the promotions that Starwood gives, but I really hate it when it is such a chore to accually redeem them, and you are made to feel kindof cheap in the prosess by the staff. Overall, however, if I ever need to be in LB (which I hope not - aviod if at all possible!! Long Beach is downright ghetto and nasty exept for downtown and there is not even a great beach) I will definatly be back at the Westin.
Good business hotel
I stayed at this hotel in September 2003 for two nights. It is conveniently located in the business section of the town. One word of caution for family vacationers. It is not really on the beach. However, it is close to the pine ave restaurants and shops. The room is clean.
The hotel restaurant is o.k. The management, specifically the accounting division, is inept. I had a billing issue where they over charged me. It took 7 phone calls to get it straightened out. very frustrating.

We both had a surprisingly comfortable and long sleep in our hovel, once we were up and dressed we were out of there like a scalded cat...!!! ... Bright Angel trail entrance to see the daily Muel riders start their way down the tiny path winding its way down the cliffs into the canyon base. It takes 3-4 hrs and they will them spend the night and take the trek back up on their Muels the next day. This apparently costs $500 each person, and you have to book 1 year ahead to get a ride.
