Monday 26th May, our last full day in Austin and the rain that has threatened for the last few days has finally arrived. It's nice to do the laze around the house thing. A load of washing is done in readiness for the next part of our trip, New York tomorrow. With bellies grumbling we head out for a late lunch. ... with duck quackers makes a big noise. Luckily the Austin locals understood and acknowledged our quacks.
After breezing around the streets of Austin he drove us down to Austin lake where he gunned the bus down the boat ramp and into the drink. A 15min buzz around the lake trying to dodge the floating logs, unsuccessfully I might add given the massive bang we heard at the very back of the bus as the prop hit a big log.

... come home from her house, they look like they've been to the spa). Mail has been stopped. Refrigerator has been emptied. Keys to people who will be staying in the house. Raincoats and hats in the car (hope springs eternal) And so on. So for the next few weeks we'll drive up through New Mexico and Colorado, then to Oregon where we'll spend a couple of weeks, then up to Port Townsend ...
... Most days I had to cruise round town reporting on unofficial parties for SXSW to earn my badge which wasn't so bad. My two partners - Spence the firefighter and Jezzika the 'kooky' Asian UT student would join me for the rounds and we'd load up on all the free drinks and free swag we could find before searching out the next party. When not 'On Duty' I'd chill with Clara, Phil, Hannah their friend from home, Simon and the banner crew doing exactly the same ...

Glad you are reading my journal. I will make posts about my experiences starting from today. The next few months will mostly be about family. Most of the pictures posted will include family members. Two reason for this: I am the one taking the pictures, and, they all look better in photos than I do.
