Whilst there we managed to pick up another intrepid traveller, this one all the way from Australia, Iain, and we swept him along on our adventure. ... in the most random way. I ended up getting a box filled of stuff, kind of like a salad box, minus the salad. The place we were staying was nice, a bit out of the centre but it was a million times better than the place in New Orleans and there was a Doberman and cats which was nice & homey. So I'm off to see a friend of mine in Austin, Texas. I'm heading North to catch the main highway (10) and I start to see the landscape change. I drive through the Douglas Mountain Range and a few mountain passes and notice things are starting to get a little greener. I drive for several hours when I finally see signs of life - a sign that I am close to my destination.

So i arrived in Austin and the first impression I got was the redneck cab driver taking me from the airport to my hostel just repeatedly telling me how the Dallas Cowboys (American football team) suck, in a slightly retarded way, reinforcing all the stereotypical preconceptions I had in my head..
