... movement on this thing. Also, the boards themselves were creaky, cracked, and moved around a bunch. Scary stuff!

Now that we have the first hike out of the way, it's time head back. First we had to climb back up those damn stairs ... ugh! At least back at the entrance there is a little snack shack thing that has ice ...

... at the border crossing and went through the usual interrogation. Something must have made them suspicious or they felt it was time to do a random check, so we were sent inside to await a quick inspection of the van and its contents.

After a brief drive into Canada we lined up to drive the van aboard the ferry to Vancouver Island... our most pleasant trip across the water and the next evening follow...

... like we weren't depressing the clutch. If by chance we were able to get it into second, it just popped out immediately. Oh well, part of the adventure! Total miles 8,424 Last night I ate at Taco Time .....and they are overpriced. Plus they have no selection of sauces, just this big tub of pump hot sauce.......gross. their fries are tator-tots...but the have no BBQ sauce to dip them in. Now that I have eaten at all 3, my choices are, best to worse..... 1) Del Taco, good price, great taste, selection of hot sauces in packets. 3 tacos, soda and fries in meal. Tacos are kinda small but there ...

... the temp gauge on the car, going up quite dramatically. Went from 50 to 75 in about 20 mins! Finally I was getting a taste of the heatwave. Pulled over as soon as I could and put the top down again. A few miles down the road and the temp had risen again to 86!! WTF? Stopped and had a cake, which I'd got earlier, by the side of this gorgeous lake. Didn't stay too long though, as I heard something moving about in the woods, and they have bears in these parts, and I don't share ...
