We also went to the baseball. The San Diego team (the Padres) lost to the LA Dodgers 5-1. There seemed to be as many Dodgers fans as there were Padres fans. We walked along Broadway until we found a place to eat. The Yard Glass was a sports bar with an extensive menu and very loud music. Luckily we were able to catch up on the football game playing today. We are starting to understand more about the game. Lunch was lovely.
We then walked down Fifth Avenue towards the water front. There were lots of lovely boutiques ...
... some of their Chinese, Japanese, and Thai offerings and they were all outstanding...I happily wrote them a 5-star TripAdvisor review after I finished this blog entry. We just went in for some simple sushi...but you never know when a surprise great meal that you never expected will present itself.
We returned to their home for the evening and called it wonderful family day.

... do the zoo. And that we did! Spent the whole day there! It was a good 9am to 6pm adventure. But was nice to be in easy company - had a few giggles at the animals - wouldn't be as fun by yourself. That night I was stuffed so I did my laundry. Ha ha. On my last day I was tossing up between Sea World and the Midway. I decided on the Midway. I was lacking in motivation to do a big theme park by myself. Midway is an old USS plane carrier ship. ...
... will rent a houseboat and a speed boat and split the costs with a few families. We already have plenty of people who want to do it. Some of our stops on this trip although nice, we will mark off as "been there done that" and probably not return to. However, even the disappointing destinations are part of the process. As I said earlier, this is how we learn to refine our travel plans for future trips.
