... real cool piece of architecture. Chistchurch definitely gets our vote for friendliest airport so far. Instead of the "Any laptops, liquids, belts, phones, coins in the tray" in a gruff voice, the security guy started having a friendly chat about where we had been and where we were going. They were even friendly whilst they had to conduct a search on my bag to identify what a strange metallic object was. Turns out is was a gold coloured tangle teaser that Sylv got me for xmas.

Yesterday we trekked from Dinboche to Loboche and today on to Gorak Shep at 5,190m (higher than we sky dived a few years back out of Brisbane!) Yesterday morning was a good trek. We followed the hill line across an area that wasn't unlike the foothills of NZ, the only difference was that in every direction that you looked there were massive snow covered mountains towering above us. We stopped for lunch with a view of our afternoon climb - 400m of hard slog. At the top ...

... by home team the Mainland Tactix. The match was a fixture in round 3 of the ANZ Championship, the highest quality netball league on Earth. After a sustained and thorough warm up, the captains chose ends and the match got underway at a lightning pace. The fouls were relentless, with umpires having to blow up approximately every twenty seconds and the jostling and body checking was constant. The power and speed of passing was incredible and the collection of some of ...

It was nice to see plants and sunsets again. Christchurch is a pretty chilled out town. There was a huge earthquake back in 2011 and there is still a bunch of damage left from it. There is construction going on all over the place, and a ton of buildings downtown are still condemned and fenced off. They are doing some neat stuff to try and get things going again. They built a little outdoor mall out of shipping containers. There are a ton of mobile food trucks/trailers running around ...

... like most of the shops in central Christchurch) and made our way back to pack. We had a rest after this, and made our way to a Thai place called the Thai Container around the corner (also in a shipping container!). We had some excellent Thai food, although Dev's was a little too spicy for her! Back at our place, our bags are packed, and we're chilling out watching iPlayer and catching up on some British telly. Wow 5 weeks in New Zealand have flown by; what an ...
