... we couldn't help reviewing the events of 9/11. The towers were 110 floors high which really put the Rockefeller Centre into perspective. Their domination of the Manhattan skyline meant a view of the airplanes crashing into the towers would have been visible in many different ways throughout the city. We just kept looking up to where they would have been and thinking about it.

... not judge whether you should or should not continue eating it. However as I do not belong to such a culture I feel that there is no need for me, personally to eat off the endangered species list. But I did enjoy the Icelandic hotdogs with their special remoulade/mustard sauce! It was delish! Thanks for coming along with us on our trip! It was fun sharing the journey with you all! Today is the day we head up up and away to India! I am very excited (and maybe a little nervous) that the trip has finally come! Marty and I spent the day getting some final things for the trip and having all the American meals I could get my hands on. Around 6 we headed for the airport and I was able to meet up with Maddie! Her day sounded not as awesome as she had been at airports since 8am all by herself. Thank goodness she had been there to get in the Emirates line because ...
... have it, we managed to time it in with his work to be in NYC for 10 days, followed by a couple of days in Atlantic City and finally a few days in Philadelphia. We were not only lucky to have Lock there with us on his days off, but we also saw his 2nd and 3rd last concert with Taylor Swift at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and again at the Lincoln Financial Stadium in Philadelphia. The crowds for NJ and PA were 55,000 and 50,000 respectively. The noise of the crowd ...
... behind. Terry was feeling bad, his pile was growing, I still only had a,polo. He thinks I'm too fussy, he will buy anything that fits. I am a little more choosy. We checked at the PO the cost of posting to Oz. there is no sea mail, for 2.2 kg it would be $58. So sadly we won't be bringing home gifts, we need all the weight for our selfish selves. We parted ways and Terry came back to the hotel with our shopping. Along the way I managed ...

Historical Traveler Reviews West Side Inn New York City
Made a grown man cry!!!!!
Please, please, please stay away from this sorry excuse for a hotel. Ok so we booked a late trip and went for the cheaper option but this place takes the biscuit. On entry the place doesnt look so bad but you just wait till you see the rooms. In fact, no don't wait to see the rooms, just don't go!!! Read the advice above a stay away..........
Do not go there
oh how i wish i'd read the rest of these reviews before i booked! it was horrible. dirty and disgusting. i burst into tears when i saw the room, but we had no choice but to stay there. the whole place was filthy. the shared toilets (2 rooms with a loo and crap shower between each floor of at least 15 rooms) where smelly and dirty, with limited hot water. the bed was rancid and stained and gave no support, we slid into the dent in the middle as soon as we got in it. there were really noisy pipes running floor to ceiling through the room. the door didn't fit in the frame and the window didn't close properly. i could go on all day about what was wrong. just don't bother.
I booked to go NYC and was exceptionally excited... until i saw this (and i use this in the loosest possible term!) "hotel". Upon arrival i knew i'd made a mistake, the staff were rude, the reception was dirty and smelt! When i got to my room the door had been kicked in and what looked like droppings were in the corridor! My room had a broken window, a sad filthy hole in the wall for a wardrobe, the bed was broken and sheets were filthy! The light... well there was no light switch let alone a light! The view from the window was of a lovely brick wall, the toilets were apalling, filthy, mouldy and to put it politely infested! It was the worst place i have ever ever seen in my life.... i collected my suitcase and left immediately i didnt dare sleep in the hotel! I seriously reccomend you think long and hard before staying here!
Hotel from hell
These were the most disgusting rooms i have ever entered in my life.
The place was absolutely filthy, there was not a stick of furniture where you could hang your clothes. the windows were so dirty you could not see through them. the linen was grey ,the doors had been kicked in ,lights did not work,we found a used condom under a bed.the bathrooms were dirty, broken basins and fittings and the hallways and lifts stank of urine and worse.it was described on the net as clean and comforable nothing could be further from the truth. give this place a very wide berth .ECK. our visit was october 2003......
Horrible horrible horrible
please please do not stay here. its hell on earth - the seediest, creepiest, dirtiest hotel i've ever had the misfortune to stay in. it is a broken down flop house with no amenities, small dirty room and indifference service. we nicknamed it bate's motel for good reason, the whole atmosphere is downright spooky. dark dingey sqaulid place. avoid avoid avoid avoid.
Awful place.. nice neighbourhood, but the place is a dump. Arrogant staff, even missed a meeting with a friend because of these idiots..door wouldn't close properly, the toilet was broken, tv wasn't working at all, nice view to a brick wall one foot away.. v e r y thin walls, cockroaches.. need I say more?
We cancelled the rest of our stay
It was cheap, but the hallways smelt of urine and the public bathrooms were not kept clean. I could feel the springs through the bed and the sheets were so thin you could see through them.
This place really was the pits! Cheap, but really a dive! Bunk beds, cracked windows, noise, dark lighting, not very clean and the customer service was really terrible! They have no clue about customer satisfaction - I will never go back, that's for sure. Honestly, I would prefer to sleep on the sidewalk outside the hotel than cross the threshold to that piece of rubbish!
Avoid at all cost...
This hotel is dreadful. It is dirty and cramped. Our room had bunk beds, a sink, a light that sometimes worked and a dodgy perspex window with no catch and that was it. No TV, no A/C not anything else. The only positive was the communal shower had fantastic water pressure! All in all, pay $20 dollars a night more and stay in a much nicer and much better located hotel.
Was referred to West Side Inn after contacting sister hotel. was not in any guidebook I had so had no idea what it would be like. Suprised to find that it was friendly, very clean and had the most comfortable bed of my trip to the States!! Bathrooms clean, staff very helpful. Best of all a great price for a hotel that allows you to access most of the city, very close to shops and a subway station. Would recommend highly for travellers on a budget.
