... a few surfers out cresting the waves, as this is about the most northerly place for surfing. North from here is where the Great Barrier Reef starts, which makes for good diving but not good surfing. The other interesting thing here is that vehicles are allowed on the beach and can drive several miles along the sand down into the national park. This means that whilst walking this lovely long, fairly deserted, stretch of beach, you keep being passed by ...
Dicky Beach, Queensland, Australia jenandtony... worth the journey to Australia just for this!!!!

We returned very relaxed and realised we still didn't know where we were staying. We checked out email at a cafe to find we weren't staying anywhere!!!!! Somewhere along the line we hadn't gone through the full process of the hotel booking so didn't have anywhere to stay!!! RETARDS!!! We went along to the closest set of apartments and asked if there was 'any room at the inn!' 'No' said the innkeeper ...
Caloundra, Queensland, Australia benandem24... cute! Bonnie kept making these little sounds before the keeper came in with the food... i'm sure she knew it was feeding time! some other highlights for me were patting a Koala, watching the Wombat sleep sprawled out belly-up and then getting to pet one when we saw Meg the Wombat out for her afternoon walk. of course the peak of the day was walking through the huge Kangaroo enclosures and getting to pet, sit with and feed them. they ...
Beerwah, Queensland, Australia katelin... which dried almost instantly on the line. We rendezvoued with the The Lumkes family (Rob, Liz, Samuel, and Amy) Weston was so excited to see his buddy Sam. Went to Rob's brothers home where they were staying and met their family and also Rob's Dad and wife(who live in Lowood). Brian had the tour of their home, as Bernard (brother) is also a builder. Very different way of building here (and no furnace). We went up to Yadina with them to the ginger ...

Bli Bli, Queensland, Australia katelinThe bus trip from Hervey to Noosa was more enjoyable then any other previously as we had company from people we'd met on Fraser. When we arrived we all headed to the same hostel and made plans to go to Australia Zoo the following day. That evening we all went to watch Indianna Jones at the cinema, it was rubbish but watching it with an American made it interesting ...
Noosa, Queensland, Australia tripofalifetime... sat on the beach the next day and watched the container ship carrying Chitty sail past and it was full of mixed emotions. We still had four weeks to enjoy Australia but Chitty had gone. Carolyn and I have had the time of our lives with Chitty and can't possibly get home before her so we have booked our flights to arrive when chitty does so we can complete our adventure by driving Chitty home to the Isle of Wight. Whatch this space...........

Sippy downs, Australia mirka_blog... Thus, we had been only minimally concerned about snakes and perhaps even dismissive to instruction about how to properly apply a compression bandage. Since a snake would be likely to bite us on the leg, and the remedy for a bite from a snake from this area is to immobilize the leg and apply a tight ace bandage to prevent spread of the venom through the lymphatic system, it was a source of hilarious absurdity from the beginning that the only way to ...
Caloundra, Australia mattador... our work was done. On the way, we came across legions of the small soldier crabs that I had seen the day before; and this time my camera was handy. For dinner this evening we had a 'clean out the fridge' barbeque. All over Australia (well Queensland, at least) are these public electric barbeques. Just push the button ...
