And so the countdown nears an end...

... standards and already packed much of my stuff in to my brand new (and rather sexy) backpack. Fortunately it appears that I can fit everything in despite the fact that I'm having to carry an obscenely bulky amount of anti-malaria tablets as well as other delightful disease prevention measures such as a mosquito net and enough insect repellent to bathe in. However, the only bug I intend to catch is the travel bug (boom boom) so ...

Close to home (and Stratford-Upon-Avon)

... in your snaps). However the numerous pubs, restaurants and coffee shps promised a fine time later in the day.

Finally I should note that there are many fine views as you walk back along the main road, but my spare camera battery was in the car and so I cannot share them.

Beautiful place, much closer to my home than the airport or the coast, but to be fair possibly further from your home.

I am now fired with enthusiasm to visit local towns and villages.

Making Plans - BUT WHERE TO!

Teaching in Hungary is perhaps a possibility however the wages are not brilliant and registering for taxation, necessary but a nightmare!

The brilliant thing was being able to watch from cameras at the front and directly below the plane at our takeoff and flight over the ground. Being in an aisle seat this meant I did'nt have to lean over to try to peer out of the window.

The journey went smoothly with the staff giving us ...

Land of my Father

After a great few days with Ian & Pauline we took off west through North Wales. Had Paulines ham cobs on the promonade at Rhyll overlooking a windswept beach but in glorious sunshine. Carried on around the north coast to Conway and then followed the river south to Ffestiniogg past the slate quarries and then to ...

GPS Tom Tom functionality problems

... to try and find a cinema. Using the best invention ever, the GPS, they managed to find one that closed some 8 years ago! Anyway they then thought they'd head to Leicester for a wander around and to see if there was one in the centre. So after finding that and parking up and actually getting to the Cinema, there weren't any films on that they wanted to see!! Although they did say they had a good time seeing what was around Leicester!

So here comes the fun ...

To be or not to be, that is the question

Well! We had a wonderful time in Stratford-upon-Avon!

Marky Mark used to live / work here so he left Mum and me to our own devices whilst he did the laundry at the laundromat. What a guy!

Unfortunately we didn't get to see a show because everything was booked out. But we still thoroughly enjoyed out time around the town. Some things we saw:

- quaint old tudor houses: some looking a ...

Too cold to sightsee

This morning was freezing!! We started the day with a hot breakfast and after a few minutes outside decided that it was too cold to be a tourist outside. So instead we spent the day in the shopping centres. Just after midday it started to lightly snow. We were excited. Jess started chatting to a woman at a skincare counter. She told us that if the weather gets a bit bad the train services are cancelled. This worried us ...

Germany - First Solo Trip

... I do not have my German friends with me because I want to taste local food but due to language barrier its hard for me to order :( Tomorrow I will be going to one of the loveliest place, ROTHENBURG!! Day 5 (Rothenburg): Its lovely travelling in the early morning. Its 745am and the view with the combination of sun, low level cloud and a little fog makes the town look stunning. I am looking forward to Rothenburg. Some information on taking the EC train, if there are no ...

Canadian Chums and Bulls in Brum

... so say what you mean now while you have the chance, and then be gone? I don't know. It's all too much to think about sometimes. I just know it was great to spend time with the boys. It was great to know they were exploring and taking time to see the world, my part of the world. And until next time, the e-mail will have to suffice. Good luck lads, wherever you may be. Let me know next time you are in my hemisphere (southern next time), it's my round! Cheers!
