... who has a replica tomb in the scotish national museum) and the british general from the plains of abraham...not montcalm, the british one...james wolfe! he had a big monument. i then walked to waterloo station to meet a friend of my from my course who's from london. we then walked to the tate modern, which, like the british museum, is a great space, if not more so. from the tate, which i enjoyed, but didn't see enough of, we checked out st. paul's cathedral to get a ...
London, England, United Kingdom aarondewittWell folks here we go. My first entry and where better than at the airport. Exited, nervous, apprehensive is what i am feeling but i imagine that is pretty normal!! Pretty good journey to London via national express and managed to navigate my way to T4 with out any probs. Saying good bye was hard but as we all know it ...

Sevenoaks, United Kingdom jocksofhazzardPaul ended up picking me up at Lewes on Saturday evening and we drove back to Plumpton College where I had one night left. I had no more duties left and the kids were in an activity so I took the opportunity to take one last walk around the college. I walked down to see the pigs and cows. As I'm a nerd that likes to reminisce, I walked through the paths of the college thinking of the fun times I had ...
London, England, United Kingdom addicted2travel... that I am still 3kg off my limit. However, I have yet to pack toiletries, medical stuff and reading material. Can that weigh 3kg? Lets hope not or the kids might be dragging some of it along in their cases! G, P & J are all tucked up in their beds - I'm now quietly updating this with a bottle of Sol beer in my hand. A final few moments of calm before the frenzy that is to come! Still have a hundred ...
Sevenoaks, United Kingdom billy-123... We'll want to sleep at dawn and wake up at dusk. How rude of the sun. Australia should be nice and hot and hopefully not so hot that we burn and die. How cynical of me. Oh well. Thinking happy ...
Sevenoaks, United Kingdom billy-123... A real hike up there though, 140 some steps. We went to eat lunch at the Wagamama's in Leicester Square where I got a familiar bowl of Chili Chicken Ramen, some duck gyoza, and a glass of plum wine. After taking in Piccadilly Circus for the last time, we attempted to find the zoo, but rain and faulty directions won out. So we rearranged the plan a little and headed off to Knightsbridge to visit Harrod's. Another thing I had never been to, it definitely has everything ...
London, United Kingdom rainydaygirl13Here I am, back in London for a week, my home for 9 months back in 96/97....sure its more expensive, spending cash akin to a colonic irrigation every time you want to eat or travel. But hey, it is still a great city to spend a week of your life in...tbc
London, United Kingdom wheresdaznow... now as we 'checked out' quite a few as we went along. Speaking of diversity, the accommodations that we stayed in also demonstrated this. From 12 bed dorms (it is amazing just how many people actually snore) to world renowned B&Bs. We did it all. We don't think we need to elaborate on what we preferred. They all had their charms. The UK is incredible. A fabulous experience that has open our eyes wide. What do you have to offer Ireland? Bring it on!
London, United Kingdom meganandkevin... eventually get to my stop and exit the tube station and step out into the English air for the first time. My hotel was about a 5 minute walk from the station and a very pleasant one. Islington was a beautiful place to stay quiet and removed from the hustle and bustle of central London but still close enough to get to London within 10-15 minutes. Because I had gotten it though Priceline I stayed at the Islington Hilton ...
