A travel blog entry by nancya on Oct 08, 2014

... hassles at the airport bags pass and no pat down although I looked a fright after removing bobby pins. Arriving at Gatwick the beginning of a nightmare. We walk and walk and walk to the customs check. UK /EU citizens go in one line and the rest of us in another. Our line is very long and very slow we waited an hour at least (the Uk citizen have long ago left the ...

Today we are in Zermatt. The day is cloudy so most of the higher mountains are obscured. Zermatt is car free but allows small electrical vehicles like taxis or delivery trucks. As you walk you never know what is coming behind you because there is little sound from these vehicles as well bikes go full speed down the street . It is bustling here can't imagine how busy it will be when the snows arrive. We take a cable car to ...

Come back to find my bag all alone -Garry has got on the train without me but which car?? He found me once he realized I had the tickets. As I said ...

... with two platforms in each. Four platforms
on one level and another four below on the lower level. Its simply unbelievable
how they could ever build such a railway inside a mighty high mountain of 3454m
      high.
Finally out of the station and I head along the tunnelled out passageways
and head for the "Spinks". The Spinks is the highest lookout point from up here
and is a massive steel structure built onto the flat rocks at the summit.

... up has been absolutely amazing.

Our next stop is Eismeer. We stop there for 5 minutes, we keep hoping for a shift in the clouds but not very lucky today. Apparently the weather forecast was only bad for just one day, today. A shame but the experience of being up here so far into the mountains and glaciers is one we could not have missed anyway.

Okay, so updating..........well, what a day, it's 6pm and we still have a bus ride to get back to Lauterbrunnen where we ...
