Well View Hotel Moffat

Well I was all set to leave, my brother arrived to pick me up and told me that my father had passed away that morning. Devastating news. Rang Real Gap straight away and they were really good about everything. Have postponed trip until after the funeral which is this Friday.

Will update when I have details of my flights and my new itinerary.

Think I've packed up everything in the house now, feels weird without the cats being here. I think that's one of the toughest things I've ever had to do. I hope they go to a good home....

Sold the car and rented out the flat and packed my life into a box. Strange feeling.

It's the start of a new chapter ...

My room, although a good 5 minutes walk from reception, is fabulous. It is a family room so you walk through the kids room (which looks like it has a couple of day beds in it) to the master bedroom which has a million pillows on the bed and there are a thousand fluffy white towels in the bathroom. The bathroom did give me ideas although its a bit late. The marble is about the same colour as I bought so its easy to forget where I am....

... of various different nationalities - all with one thing in common.... gasping for a fag.

With our transit to Mumbai complete, arrived at our hotel which I will touch on later..

Mumbai is Mumbai, its huge but at 6am in the morning, it's quiet - which is good.

So all in all - we have arrived.

... up (a little nap later)... slightly tainted by my reflection in the window... I think it makes it looks a bit cool though! Pretty much the whole of my time was spent in the hotel, so no comment on Peebles itself unfortunately. Good conference though...

Aztan masnap Lillaval elmentunk Dundee-ba, hogy megcsinaltassuk a tarsadalombiztositasi szamunkat. Eloszor begyalogoltunk Blair-be, mert azt hittuk az poen lesz, reggel 7kor...hat csak modjaval volt poen...Ja...igen, esett az eso, vagy inkabb szitalt a kod..amikor nem esett..de egesz nap, es Dundee-ban is! Ugyhogy egy forro teaval, es repatortval, meg Mars Muffin-nal ...

... ugyhogy nagyon kiraly, mar csinaltam fotokat, de majd fel is teszem vhova (ha pl. megtalalom itt, hogy hogy kell, akkor ide :) )

Lovagolni itt sajna nem nagyon lehet, de vannak lovak a kornyeken, es mar a neten is neztem, hogy van e tanulos lovarda, es van, ugyhogy majd meg futok egy-ket kort:)

Na, mostmar megyek, mert gyonyoru ido van, es ma van az elso szabadnapom, es elmegyek biciklizni, aztan vacsira 6-ra vissza akarok erni:)

... and his cousin Poonam were meeting us for dinner and I felt so sorry for his poor cousin cos Knakkers and I just gossiped about work stuff for the entire dinner.

It was good to see him though, he was exactly the same as ever, god love him.. we're going to meet up with him again for the World Cup Qualifier soccer at Wembley when we get back to London.

Tomorrow we cross the channel into France and then onto Amsterdam!

From there we drove around the Border Regions of England, checking out Hadrian's Wall - built by the Roman Hadrian to keep the Scottish clans from attacking them - and then up across the border itself into sunny Scotland. ... left by the time we had our corn beef hash breakfast. Out of the creek with short breaking seas on the nose and crab pots impossible to see reliably. Just as Dave thought it would happen it did. No steering - crab pot. Engine in neutral and run up forward to drop the anchor to prevent us being blown the few boat lengths onto a lee shore.
