Knysna- memories created and re-visited

... mention one incredibly drunken evening myself and Billy(Aaron) spent on the town in Knysna. After a day of sight-seeing and beach-combing we started drinking at about 2 pm on Thursday afternoon. We soon decided that the two pregnant girls should stay at home while we went out and did guy stuff. Carla does spend 75% of her day reclining on any comfortable surface available so we didn’t think she’d mind doing the same with the other 25%. The ...

The world highest bungee

After leaving my friend Kalinka's parents place, me and the lads plus Monica our mascot we picked up in Swaziland and her slightly annoying friend from Canada, all set off on the baz bus to the tiny inland town of Storms River. The town is set in the stunning countryside of the Tsitsikamma NP and is a short taxi ride to some of the most beautiful, untouched coastline I have ever seen. We weren't here for the scenery though, we had come to jump the worlds highest ...

Bloukrans Bungee: The Godfather of all Jumps!

... take you on a 200m feet-dangling cable slide (foofie slide as South Africans like to call it!) out onto the archway of the bridge from where it meets the edge of the gorge.
Arriving at the jump platform, I was the first to go and Daniel was to follow. I sat there staring at the intimidating view of the Bloukrans River beneath while Selby started handling the arrangements of setting me up with all the necessary gear, which includes harnesses, buckles, cords and ...

Finally some Drunken Madness ; )

... Neasa's birthday present (jewellery) in a nice little shop not far from Cuebar. We went to the local cinema which was a nice way to recover from the night before and Neasa went for a lovely walk along the beach. We went to post home letters and got chatting to the Postie Michael (seriously seek him out if you go there, he'll point you in the right direction of a party) who told us that Cuebar ...

Thank you, Girls

... We have a huge place with 2 bedrooms and the most fancy bathroom I ever saw. Judy buys us drinks. And yes: the place is as nice as you see: http://www.anoceanwatchguesthouse.co.za /gallery.htm But, the internet does not work. Dr T fiddles and fiddles but no such a luck. Glen, Judy's husband will be home soon and can help out. In the mean time the girls go to the beach. And come back with take away food. Glen comes home and steps in to our apartment, the ...

Nana's Arrival

... I remember we went swimming in the lake. I was the same age as Kirsten, and Megan was younger. I didn't have a swimsuit at the time, so I had to borrow one from them!! I was so embarresed that Megan was younger than me by quite a few years, yet I fit into one of her bathing suits.

Ostriches and caves

... ve got a great piccie of the splash! - not quick enough to get the tail as well. Saturday a few of us went up to Outdshoorn to the Kango Caves, a wildlife park and an ostrich farm. The caves were awesome. At the wildlife park we got to go in with the cheetahs and stroke them . . . . . what can I say I'm running out of words to describe how you feel when you are up close and personal with a wild animal. From the ...

... back and relaxed. We went out for a drink one evening with a couple we had bumped into at 3 different backpackers now. It was becoming quite humerous each time that we would spot them at a new location. They are another couple from Switzerland, and very nice. We now have two offers to stay with someone in Switzerland. We might just have to divert our travels there while in Europe. For other travellers that may be reading our blog. Here is some ...

Bioluminessence

... down the beach dissipating into the sandy earth. I bend down scooping up a generous handful of sandy granules examining the laser lightshow in my hands. As the warm midnight surf rushes past my bare legs, I am entranced by the emission of neon green light bubbles bursting around my skin. It was all I could do to keep from jumping right into the water to thrash about becoming one with natures miraculous phenomenon. Sure boss...report will be on your desk by 9am sharp. Not likely.
